Earth 1500 AD

haha, its civ v or no civs at all. I have a question. i was trying to use the tool that lets a civ have all the technology until the end of an era, medieval, renaissance, industrial etc but it won't save itself into my world build, it goes back to the technology that was there before i started modding the scenario. any idea at what im doing wrong? should i take the world build, put it in my civ iv directory and start a new game? I wasnt doing that, i was just closing the world editor and it wouldn't work from there
It sounds like you are just not opening the same WB map file that you saved. If you open the CivBeyondSwordWBSave map file in a TextEditor, after each BeginTeam and TeamId, it lists each tech that team starts with.

I see what you are saying, i went into the world build with the text editor and used ERA_RENAISSANCE over ERA_INDUSTRIAL which is what most of the civs start with. I saved it, fired up a game but the technology didnt change

You only changed the era that the game starts in, not the techs each civ starts with. Each tech is listed individually, e.g.
TeamId=0
Tech=TECH_AGRICULTURE
Tech=TECH_THE_WHEEL

So, if you want to have each civ start with all the techs to the Renaissance, you'll have to list them all here for each civ.

When you change them in game via world builder and click industrial, does that start them with all the techs at the end of industrial or the beginning of industrial? if i want most civs to start off with beginning as industrial i would set them as renaissance correct? You know that drop box right, in the world builder?

All Renaissance techs. Even music is still Renaissance.

Thats what i wanted for my 1790 mod by Lokoius that i back petlled to 1750. Thanks for the help

i tried doing it , it didnt work. I even took the saved world builder, put it in the correct folder and ran up a completely new game

What im going to do is take Lokoius' 1643 scenario and port it foward to 1700 AD. it would be much more nicer plus there wont be so many industrial aged military units either in the year of my edit, 1750 AD. I cant delete them all, there's just too many to do that

yes, ive added some cities, major additions of buildings to cities for a more fun start to certain civs, other stuff i cant remember and i also nerfed the barbarian units in africa and south america. Its not just a good balance but a perfect balance. no body gains or looses cities in those parts of the world. And someone please tell me what happens with budapest. I dont think austria controlled it in the 1400 or 1500s so i put it barbarian with about 8 longbowmen as a garrison . I wonder who will conquer it first!!

One small change, I took off two of the algonquin speaking cities along the east coast of north america, it will give the european nations a grip on the continent when they send their settlers
