Earth map - how to start in Australia / SE Asia?

I wanted to try a game where I got a head start area wise by having Australia to myself (Large or bigger). There's lots of possibilities here for fun goals, like starting in the very corner of SE Asia and spread southward while trying to spread an early religion northward. Also, I'm guessing I would have a decent chance of meeting enough potential trading partners early since Asia tends to be crowded.

Anyway... My problem that keeps me from even experimenting with this, is that I have tried starting 40+ games (restart map) without starting anywhere close to Australia or SE Asia. This is both on Large and Huge. The closest I've gotten is India which is too far away. I've tried several civs, and lately I've just been disabling the Start Bias but that doesn't seem to help. Any ideas for how I can end up closer to Australia?

I don't think anyone except city-states start in Australia.

Ok, so I can't even start in the SE Asia area (Thailand/Indonesia etc) by chance? That seems a bit strange.

SE Asia: No mods needed; that's on the list (at least on large); you may have to restart a few times though.

Add more AI players. Maybe that will increase the chances of starting in Southeast Asia. I did it as England once.

Isn't there a mod that allows you to cycle through the different start locations so you can choose the one you want? That would really cut down on the number of reloads.

Also, I've started quite far south east before. Actually, it seems to always throw me either in Siberia or China. Is China too far north?
