Thank you hahntsak for answering one of my questions. In addition, I would also like to ask you what you used to edit the XML files for the game seeing as to how my Microsoft Office has not been working lately so I could not see if I could edit the files using that for myself.

XML files are text, use notepad, or download an XML editor.

Has anyone had success playing as the Barbs with only the one lone warrior? I've found it's nearly impossible to take a single city with just one so I tried modding it to two. No success. So I'm going to try it with three, or maybe edit the Barbarian leader to have the Aggressive trait so they get that free promotion. I don't want to enable settlers because I figure the whole point of the excercise is to be forced to take cities from the other civs. :viking:

I got rid of the barbarians, no offence Mr Sid but your diplomacy skills annoy me like hell! :D

The halo puts a smile on your face though.

I also noticed that the Minor player gets all the first level starting techs. Now is this really balanced compensation for not having traits or UU's? I think I'm going to tone that down a bit.

In my own mod I not only added the aggressive trait, but a new UU to replace the warrior. It's a really simple mod. I didn't even make a new skin. I just made a new warrior type called Barbarian Raider and added 25% to city attack. That's pretty much it. I didn't want them to be overpowered or anything, but I wanted my one or two little barbarians to have a fighting chance when trying to take an early city since, playing as Barbarians, I'm not letting them build settlers.

Also, Undertaker798, what did you notice was so annoying about playing against Sid? I noticed a lot of diplomacy modifiers in the CIV4LeaderHeadInfos.xml that were either set to 0 or left out, when they're modified for all the other civs. I'd like a better idea of how the AI behaves before fiddling around with them. Maybe I could just take the stuff from one of the more aggressive Civs and paste it in.

I just wanted to note, with the mods stated above it turns out I only needed 1 warrior to do the job.

Of course, this makes the random roaming barbarians stronger too. This should make things interesting...

I know this thread is 2 YEARS BUT WHERE TO SAVE THAT WORD PAD THINGY???????????????????????? ANSWER ME

save it to the documents area of your warlords or BTS assets area

1. in that folder [documents area of warlords or bts]
2. copy all the assets you want to modify from the program area [c:\program\...\warlords [or Beyond the Sword] to the documents area equivilent].
3. modify xml in your documents area folder with wordpad or notepad.

Or just play the scenario in BtS...

most of the scenarios that worked in warlords will work in bts as well.
