Hello all, pretty new here though I have been lurking and reading for some time :)

I was just wondering, has anyone found anything yet that might be considered an easter egg?

Just today I realized that the music playing during world generation of a custom map comes from "Colonization". Made me crack a huge smile and I had fits of nostalgia.

Btw...If there is a thread already for this please point me in the right direction. Thanks!

one time when it was loading the game it said that "snacks are good in moderation" or "never fight a land war in asia

The only easter egg found was in a screenshot before game was released.
On top bar it said on a blackboard Civ 4=$
The hidden messages as I have learned are not easter eggs.

I wouldn't really call that an easter egg since they show up pretty frequently and you don't have to hunt for them, or play the game on a certain day. There are a few modders easter eggs. Some are just unused units and such that are floating around in the art folders. The big one is the playable barbarians.

When I discovered computers (pretty sure it was computers) or was it the picture I got for entering the modern age? Anyway, a picture of a digital watch of some sort came up and the manufacturer was "Soren".

Thank you!
I was going nuts trying to figure out where I'd heard that music before.

Not sure if it qualifies as an easter egg but:
When you build a theater, some music from Pirates! will be played.

 Actually, That's classical music! Bach, I do believe. You know, the stuff people listened to before electric guitars and synthesizers were invented.

Edit: or is it Vivaldi...

Well these are the only easter "eggs" I saw

1, Al Gore's picture on the internet icon
2, The Map Maker screen (?) show the earth in reverse, land is ocean/ocean is land.
3, George Bush's picture in on one of the icons.

I've also heard some music from Europa Universalis 2 and Civ 2. Might just be coincidence, but aybe not. Sadly, I can't remember where I heard the music.

Has anyone seen the easter egg "It's perfect, but you want more" yet? I'm not going to say where it's hidden

Actually, the music is from Civilization I, as is the entire slideshow and the text that Leonard Nimoy reads during the slideshow. A great homage to the original Civ. :goodjob:

I'm fairly certain I saw Sid's face in the video for the Firaxis logo. It was on that sheet of parchment, lower left near that bald dude.

Not competely sure though, it seemed like Sid but I haven't been able to catch it in time. I'm too lazy to check right now...
