You may have a point here as when you start to think what exactly can be dumbed down compared to Oblivion, it isn't easy to find those things. Recycling dungeons? Were recycled already. Simplified and recycled dialogue? Was simple and recycled already. Even simpler and shorter main story? I don't think so. Smaller number of side quests? This may be the thing as there were quite a lot of side quests in Oblivion (the quality wasn't great IMO). The number of side quests in Skyrim isn't revealed yet I think? They have hyped about the "radiant story"-system, but what if it's in reality some kind of glorified way to recycle side quests?
But you may be right, it's quite likely that those who liked Oblivion will like this product too. On the other, for those who didn't like Oblivion, there aren't yet much reason to expect this would be better.
