I hate emancipation simply because i dont' haev a choise after a while but to switch. Even playing a game that lasts longer like the "Next War", its 2137 and my people still want emancipiation. Slavery is dead hear people, let move on.

I think that the slavery event that occurs that knocks out a city's production for a turn or turn and lowers it s population should occur more and more frequently and/or get more severe as time goes on. This should be the deterent to switch from slavery. It woudl also not force me to take only emancipation but to just not be in slavery.

Anyone have any idea how I could change that event to match that? Or is this a bad uidea altogether?

Also it was a one time event, wonder if we could makle an event cause unhappiness in those civs that havge slavery as a civic? That may be a bad idea. the long in slavery the worse teh unhjappiness.

Anythoughts.

Play as a Charismatic leader and stay in Slavery forever... I never notice when someone else reaches Emancipation.

This sounds like a reasonable idea to me. Most of the other civics in the regular game are balanced such that they all have their good and bad points. But Emancipation is the only one that you're pretty much forced into once the game gets past a certain point. So I can certainly see the logic in reworking this civic a bit, to stop it from being so overpoweringly good. :)

Hmm... perhaps add in multiple copies of the event, each beginning after a later technology? I'm not sure if that would actually work though - I've had almost no modding experience to date. ;)

That should definitely be possible. Adding an event to the game should be relatively easy (from my layman's point of view at least). :)
