Embassy of Apolytonia

People of Apolytonia! Citizens of Phoenatica!

The fine apolytonian people finally managed to persuade their administration to give attendance for our embassy. As Apolytonia is still in the "pre subforum" phase, they could not give us stickyness (we will insist on this later on), but we got a link in a primary administrational thread who is "topped" there.

This gesture will be remembered for all times. This will be the first of hopefully many friendly diplomatic actions between our nations.

I do not know of this 'coinage' that you speak of. I cannot see how value can be placed on something that cannot be used. Jewelry. Well, perhaps that has SOME value.

Now take the Banana. HERE is an item of value. The fruit can be eaten, clothes can be made for the leaves, and the peel provides a wonderfull sensation when placed in a pipe. Not to mention the houses and furniture that can be manufactured from various portions of the tree.

Disorganizer, I don't think persuade is the correct word there. I had to outright threaten them. Our current administration may be a bit slow in reacting, but you ask often enough, and loud enough, they will listen.

Coinage is a process of making coins. Dont worry, Your people will soon discover the fine art of currancy. Coins are used as a form of trade, no longer we trade 8 cattle for 2 bushles of grain :D. Insted we exchange a thing called money. Money is very powerful. Since it buys goods and servaces. Dont forget that gold and silver are valuble metals since they are qute rare.

The banana is a food stuff here ;). The Banana tree Can be used for the lumber industry providing a thing called paper. I dont know about the banana peel. Maybe the Science Department can research on what to do with the banana peel. Hey the world has Orange Clean, Why not Banana Clean. It leaves a fresh sent of freshly picked bananas. Or Banana Incense, Just put the banana peel on a stick :D

UnOrthOdOX:
how did you do this? persuade them? i often wished we could do this here, too ;-)
did you just use the petition or were other methods used?

Yes, mostly through the petition, and the threat of further action should it have proven unsuccessful. But several things helped

1 possible bad press (helps that I run the paper, but I put in things I do not agree with either, it is an unbias paper and I even put in praise to our VP for things I absolutely hated...)

2 I am known to remind people of things in the next election, and Ninot knows it. He said he would do it, he just needed a reminder.

3 Several Ministers signed.

Basically in Apolytonia, there just needs to be someone to ORGANIZE an accepted idea. You may have noticed Ninot STILL protested adding the link, but he had to submit to the will of the people. I have made similar threads affecting frequency of chats, construction of laws, and reporting to the people.

Currency...I have seen the work our scientists have made in that area. However, I still do not see the value of this gold. Our 'coinage' is to be based on the banana, with the different coins being made from the different parts. IE a coin of the fruit will be worth more than one of the peel or leaves. They have created some process that allows these coins to avoid deterioration so they can last forever.

This metal may be rare, but it still can be USED for nothing. It is even too soft to make a decent sword. The way I see it, gold's only redeeming value is that it is of the most sacred color, Yellow.

Why don't you open a Jungle Gazette here? Then you can say anything you want about even Apolytonian. (You might even bring a few PI's)

Open a paper for THIS world? Or an extension of my Apolytonian paper?

I do not have time to first: catch up on what is going on over here. Second: write another paper.

I will provide you all with a link to the paper in this thread when they are written. I may open a franchise, but we must work out this exchange rate first.

And are you implying that the people here in Phoenatica cannot say what they wish? Or that I use a paper here to vent on my administration there?

With the Gazette being the only free press, it is important for me to remain unbias while writing it. My views are expressed outside of it, don't worry. If I started criticising officials, it would become a mess as my partner does the Wednesday edition and is from the other major party. We share views on how to inform the public, and it is my way to participate since I cannot become a Minister. (I cannot make the chats)

(and what is PI?)

As the Apolytonian minister of the Economy, I just wanted to say :
Actually, the French and Persians give value to gold, that they mold into round-shaped pieces. These gold pieces are used to trade for things here, and cannot be used for any other way, as surprising as it might sound. Even more surprising : their economy doesn't suffer from it, at the contrary.
A flourishing economy is what we need, so I went to talk with the Persians who demand much of our copper to give our craftsmen the know-hox, and t explain me how the wholme thing works... I trust these gold pieces will make our economy more modern than we could ever imagine. :D

Here is a suggestion. ("P$" is the Phoenatican Dollar, I think ;) ) How about P$1.00 = 2 Apolyton Bananas ;).

Spiffor,

Are you saying we are going conform to this gold? When I spoke to the Scientists, our coinage was going to be based on the Banana. Now I know I am away visiting in America right now, but please tell me it's not so! I take a little trip, at the request of my readers, and we bandon our traditions?

Phoenatican's, The Jungle Gazette Volume VII is now in print. This includes latest news: gOds speaking, temple construction, plan to bring us to a new age, an interview with Lincoln, and Global politics for dummies among other things.

i just wanted to level out the post of "hey, we have x more posts than they at the moment". this was nonense.
but the stats show that the participation/postcounts seem kind of similar. did the apo-game suffer some delays in the beginning? this would explain the things in my second post.

we will have to compare at a given game-date, for example 1800AD or so. I tried to do it with 750AD and calculate the rest, but it showed you obviously had a slow-start compared to now.

I announce my intention of founding a new missionary church in Apolytonia to bring hope and ligth to this people in the name of THE ONE. After my visits to the provinces in Aug. 08 and 09 I will be travelling to this new lands.

OK, who put the spice in Godinex's banana pipe?

Actually that thread was talking about the civ 2 demo game on Apolyton, nothing to do with you guys till you showed up.

I don't get this Gold nonsense. Gold is just a stupid metal that looks pretty and can be used to trade with the infidels who deny the holiness of the mighty Banana. It's good to have some, but I'm never going to start carrying it around.
