I think things do look promising, except our time is running out. We're got a lot of territory to conquer. We need to finish our continent and take out some of Genghis's territory before Mehmed launches. I think we are going to need spies in Mehmed's territory.
 
Yeah, I'm starting to believe that we can clobber Nappy before he gets his act together, but I'm worried about Mehmed. We won't have any tech with which to bribe him back into war.

I think we can hit Washington with Panzers and Artillery. He'll be soft. And Ghengis just declared on him, which probably means his invasion fleet just landed in American territory, softening him up further. But I think we should hold off on Nappy until bombers. Once flight is in, put a handful of fighters in Carthage. They can weaken pillagers to make for favorable mop-up.

Bombers pretty much rule, and can make for very fast offence, until jet fighters arrive. I've been thinking about building a pair of aircraft carriers and parking them (with battleship protection of course, and a medic) off Nappy's southeast coast. Six fighters should be able to do a pretty good job of keeping his Aluminum off-line. No jet fighters, no modern armor. I realized he's mostly built farms, so he's running a SE (and still in Representation), so the GNP graph might not mean as much as we'd like.

Next GG should make another medic III to heal the bombers.

Agreed, very nice analysis. Any chance we can sour relations between Mehmed and Genghis and get Genghis to keep Mehmed busy while we focus on Nappy?
 
I'm going to be away this week from Wed to Sat at a conference. I hope to come back to see we've won a glorious victory :D

Well, I have it played finally after alot of thinking. The short run is we have an army, and I did a tactical blast at Avingon, to give us some control of our southrn flank.

well that sounds good to me. how long did it actually take you to play your 10 turns? i think mine last time took like half an hour...

lurker's comment: last time I played 15 turns in a SG during war, it took me over 3 hours. A lot of cities to check for happiness health and rushing options...
A good guess for 10 turns, with less cities and less rushing options would be 1 hour and a few minutes. War is costly in playing time eek:!
 
I'm back :) BUT am extremely busy the next two weeks with a major conference next week.

Hopefully this game continues on :) vra, if you could post some discussion of your turn (hopefully with some pics) that would be great.

Yeah, come on guys, let's try to keep this going :) I can try to play a round this weekend if I get all my work done this week.
 
After this upcoming week things will be back to normal for me. June is insanely busy for me with two conferences and my fiancee's birthday, etc.

I'd like to see this game through to the end and I'd like to see us eek out a win :)
 
turn 1: start to redevelop our terrain, think about the GP we have, decide to kick off golden age, radio comes in 7

turn 2: killed some mech inf, start fighters, carriers, battleships, destroyers and tanks, genghis builds ss part

turn 3: nada

turn 4: nada

turn 5: GG in Thebes for medic unit, next one can do that, station 2 fighters in leptis and carthage to stop pillaging

turn 6: we have two carriers in thebes, our fleet takes form, bribe mehmet to war with nappy for flight, mehmet build ss part

turn 7: railroads around carthage get pillaged by a lot of gunships, kill stuff move troops

turn 8: radio in, start bombers

what should our research path be?

our power graph is looking better! we're improving, GW too but Nappy not

we have a lot of trade possibilities. for instance we can get plastics, do we need it? communism is available, too for state property

we have an army in leptis to attack GW (mostly tanks, marines and artillery), we'll have some 6 bomber in about 2 turns

we probably need to switch production around to get more fighters and bombers, so that we can send our fleet down to nappy

all in all I think this suddenly looks managable

Sweet, very good news! Seeing the overseas guys building space parts is decidedly unsettling though. Any possibility of us severing relations between them and getting them to war with each other? Any opportunity to sour relations between them should be jumped on immediately. We have to slow them both down and that seems to be the only way imo.

#1 priority right now should be clearing our continent asap. In my mind that means whip/draft as much as possible, wipe out GW as fast as humanly possible, and then start taking Nappy's core cities. Are we still planning a naval assault on him?

I still believe that Nappy can be crippled with the loss of 4 cities to eliminate his sources of coal and oil. From there we should be able to finish him with superior oil-based units.
