In civ 4 you could add some text to an INI file and then use the ` key and type 'game.toggledebugmode'. This would allow you to see the entire map. I was wondering if there is an equivalent in civ 5? I really just want to see the entire map. I dont need to enable world builder or anything. Point me in the right direction if someone has already answered this one.

i saw a debug mode description in civilization.ini in your documents but i dont know if you can assign a key to it there or not.

Does anyone else know if there is a way to display the entire map in Civ 5?

DebugMode = 1
(in usersettings.ini)

DebugPanel = 1
(config.ini)

(I'm not sure which or if both of those are necessary - I just use both anyway)

Then press ctrl+Z in the game. It reveals the entire map, including making you meet every civ and city state.

You are the man! Thanks.

On Windows 7 the files are located at "C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5". This will prob be different on XP.

For others that want to use this. You want to save before the CTRL-Z because as far as I can tell it can not be un-done.

It also lets you see all the Natural Wonders and Resources.

Wow - apparently that turns on viewing of all resources as well. Great option, just wish it had more of a fine grained control.

If I remember correctly, I think I saw a mod for this as well. I wasn't interested myself, but I'm sure I saw something that added a "reveal map" button to the game.

You can press he tilde key with debug mode enabled in the INI file to show up some debug menus in the game.

I saw that too. The only useful thing was the "Reveal Map" option in there. As it does not actually remove the fog of war as it pertains to resources, units and the like. You only see city placement. Then after a reload, you still have the fog of war. The Ctrl-Z option seems to permanently remove the fog of war.

Has anyone looked at this menu in detail? Is there anything like World Builder in civ4 that allowed you to add resources, units, ect?

you need to download and install the SDK package. search the forum for fire tuner as it's been posted several times already. it's more powerful than the civ4 worldbuilder but it's a separate application and harder to access initially until you learned how, then it's not too bad.

Awesome. I will find it and check it out. Thanks!
