End of Turn and "News" Report -> reduce boring MM-tasks

The "simplify, simplify demand" is for me the reduction of boring tasks. I have an easy example what could make Civ4 easier, if the concept will be very similar to Civ3:

End of Turn and "News" Report at the beginning of every new turn.

-> tell me which Civ has new techs. No more need to check everytime the diplo screen.
-> list me what civs can possibly trade whatever ressource
-> show unit maintenance, building maintenance cost
-> list of disorderly cities

Furthermore, is it not unfun to check everytime which city might be rioting next turn?

Simply include an option that lists you cities that will riot next turn if you do not do anything against it and let me select and jump to the respective cities from this popup!

I agree 100% Longasc. In 'Birth of the Federation' you got an excellent 'turn summary' list at the start of the new turn, to tell you what effect your previous turn had in relevent areas!
Civ4 Definitely needs this to prevent players from HAVING to micromanage their empire!

Sign me up as being in favor.

For disorder in cities, I'd simply like to know which cities have just increased in population. Then I can look at each city to see if they will go into disorder, and put a stop to it.

I'm definitely for this as well.

I'm also all in for this idea.
I also found it very annoying to check cities every turn until I got Civ-Assist.

Hail, Theoden King! (couldn't resist)

I think it would be cool too.
City capture events might still be worth mentioning during an AI turn sequence...

:)

No rioting in civ4? Horrors! I kind of like the idea that my citizens go wild when I mistreat them, and start burning down improvements, adds realism. That said, I would like a nice warning screen that tells me which cities will riot next turn, also one that lets me know when WLTK day has ended, helps out in managing those corrupt cities.

What we could have is a Civ Status Report Icon, up near the other civ icons, when you click on this it pops up a nice summary of everything pertinent discussed above, cities that are rioting, cities that will riot, building maintenance, army costs, resources/luxuries available from other civs, declarations of war between other civs, use of nukes, signing of agreements/pacts between civs you are in contact with, etc. This would update every turn.

For the newspaper thing, it would be neat to have a newspaper page pop up every 10-15 turns at random, saying things like "Indians decry use of nukes by Russia against Babylon! Citizens in England revel as happiness reaches new heights through Elizabeth's trading astuteness! Germans deploy new Panzer units!" Fun stuff, like the book listings we get now.

To be fair though, Trip, just as Soren has indicated that the current pollution model is going to be replaced with something better, I think we can also assume that, though rioting as we have become used to it will be removed, it WILL be replaced with some other kind of civil disorder system-just one which requires far less micromanagement to deal with it!

Hopefully, the effects of happiness will be more gradual than the current binary normal/riot model (OK, WLTKD is a kind of anti-riot, making for a ternary system, but compared to the differences between normal and rioting, it's pretty much cosmetic).

Yeah, I think the best improvement to the rioting system is something less binary. It's not like your city switches into riot mode because one more person is unhappy... but that the city gradually becomes harder to control / less productive. This way you can see the warning signs sooner (or later) and still ultimately deal with their case.

I Never said it wouldn't be replaced, I just said that there will no longer be rioting. ;)

We really need this.

Well, Soren has said there won't be rioting in Civ 4, so nobody has to worry about that. ;)

Did he say no rioting at all, or just that the system had been changed to reduce MM?

another thing for the report at the end of the turn:

-All enemy units in your territory or near it, that you know of

Make the report recallable so it can be called up at the later in the turn. Especially usefully when you return to the game from a break. (cause we all take them every 15 minute, just like fixaris told us to, right? lol)
