Enders Game

Ender's Game and Ender's Shadow were my favorites of the series. I actually liked Shadow better, but it was so long ago, I can't remember why.

As a lot of people here said, Ender's game is great, and Shadow is also.

The next books in the Ender's series have a lot of potential, and great plots, but I was not impressed with all the metaphysical stuff.

God I love that book.

I never expected the ending. I think I was almost as surprsied as Ender when they told him.

I actually read enders game in school a few years ago, didnt know it was such a known "hit" I actually liked it.

What book are you supposed to read after you've read the first one?

Do you prefer in the order the books were written or either of the two parallel tracks? The parallel books don't exactly line up. There are short stories and novellettes within the series, too.

Someone actually put together a "Chronology of Enderverse" graphic and posted it on the wiki. Orson Scott Card is still adding novels and short stories to the "Enderverse", in addition to working on the movie.

I think thats what Im mos afraid of is the sequals shattering the image of Ender.

All of the sequels a very different from Ender's Game. I personally prefered The Shadow series, (almost over ender's game) but... yeah

I hated Ender. Of all the books I have have ever read, Ender Wiggin is my least favorite character. He was just so self-righteous, victimizing and self-absorbed. He kept on killing people and making it okay by regretting it.
Or maybe its just Orson Scott Card I don't like. Of all his books that I read, they all seem so self-justifying, WASPy,WASPy, extremely WASPy, and male/son oriented. His books have the most annoying slang, though.
But I love Dostoevsky. It was a bit like a soap opera, the Idiot, with the best names ever (Nastasya Philipovna, Lizabetha Prokfievna, Prince Myshkin-sometimes I almost want to learn Russian just ,from the Idiot). It had no plot, but was almost all small talk, great dialogue, and the author explaining the characters and human nature.

I seem to be the only person who didn't like Ender's shadow as much as Ender's game. I didn't like how everything completely changed.

I've kept up with that since the news first came out, Apparently O.S.C. (Ender's Game Author) is thinking about combining Ender's Shadow and Ender's Game into one movie, which could be really good considering that they both take place at the same time.

Man I hope it turns out good.:please:

I agree.

I'll join in. The shadow series was, IMO, a lot better than Game and it's sequels. As everybody's said, the sequels to Ender's Game are very different than the book itself, but if you don't over-adore everything in Ender's Game, they're still enjoyable.

That pretty much covers my views. :) I'd go for Ender's Shadow and the sequels to that book after reading Ender's Game. The books about Ender's later life are alright, but very... different. A different style of story, I guess.

This thread cannot be complete without this.
