EOC2 - Ruling the Waves

Now that I think about it, our trading rep was shot some time ago for a reason I could never discover.

army moves down west coast joined by pike and trebs.
MDI out of Copenhagen head down east coast

What did we do to England? She claims we cheated her.

It may have had something to do with the disruption of a trade route during the war with the Vikings.

So, PF and Tallanas are off the hook for this one. ;)

Finally heard from Lenny. He got a job. woo hoo. His play time has been cut down because of the job but he might/will be able to play some/many weekends.

I invited him to post back on the forum again and we can sandwich him in inbetween.
Hate to see someone who has played a bit be cut out of the game. It is interesting.

PF

A job? What is this thing you speak of?

Oh, I know, that's the place I go and get paid to play in the forums, right? :p

Group,

another note from Lenny, ala Butz, he will not be able to play again in this game. He gives his regrets but too many RL events are conspiring against him.

So it's official, Butz is off roster.

PF

PF, I din't really notice a "got it" in any of your recent posts....

Nothing too serious I hope?

Would you prefer a skip this time 'round?

It's serious, can you say Hospice?

Seasons, your call. I can play tomorrow but RL and other SG took up this evening.

Correction: Not my call at all. It's all you. I was merely suggesting that if RL was being difficult, then the option was there. As far as I saw you just posted your got it, so anytime in the next couple days is fine with me. Besides, I believe that it goes to Sir Scout after anywho. :)

@PF: I'm sorry to hear about your Mom. Other than calling you my 'friend with the wolfpacks', I can't think of anything better to say on that count.

On the game: I'm up in at least on other SG that I won't be able to get to until tomorrow, so I couldn't get to this any sooner than Saturday even if I posted a 'got it' now... so take your time. Let's all deliver a 'casual whoopin' to this civ world - together.

Seconded on both counts. Sorry if I seemed overbearing ......

Not received as overbearing. Lots of balls juggling in the air right now.

Haven't started play yet, but did complete the preplay round. That always takes some time to figure out what want to do. It was looking like this might become too boring too quickly so made 1:2 luxury trade with main competitor. Also bumps happiness from 68% to 75%.
Spain would not trade and they are most annoyed so they will suffer. They have 6 cities, 4 on continent with England. Decided to see if can get a couple cities there. Ships rerouted for play time.

Game looks good. We need communism as we are getting smeared with Monarchy. Don't think will happen during my turn, but soon...

Give you all a progress report later. Any suggestions on things to consider during my turn?

Trade Carthage furs for wine, incense, and 68g.
Just to keep game interesting. Normally don't trade with main rival, but thought it would help to have competition.

Started moving towards Spain, those 4 cities on England continent look too good to pass up.

_T1_1475 ad
Should reach spain in 2 turns, nothing else going on, building RR's,
planting a few trees, etc. Running a deficit to get indust 1T earlier.

_T2_ 1480 ad
No change, saw a few Spanish ships but went too fast and lost location.
Had to turn research to positive as could not get indust in 9T.

_T3_ 1485 ad
Still didn't see spanish navy. Decided on Seville for landing, it's further away but has spices which we need.

_T4_ 1490 ad
Carthage and Byzantine signed MMP. One turn from landing by Seville.

_T5__ 1495 ad
Found spanish navy. 3 frigates and 1 galleon by Madrid, suckers.
Opps, lost 2 frigates. Thought we had more. Landed by Seville and
declared.

_T6__ 1500ad
Cannoneers got too sea sick and can't even find the city of Seville.
Going to cut off their rum. Traded frigates with Spain. Now we have spices and Seville.

_T7__ 1505 ad
England and Spain signed trade embargo. Traded 2 frigates for 1 spanish frigate. I forgot how weak frigates are. Started settler in Leiden.
We need to plant a city between Amerterdam and Rotterdam by fish so we can take shortcut between long continent and get a direct route to Portugal.

_T8_ 1510 ad
Finally Navy captains are working. Took 2 frigates and 1 galleon with no loses. Also found 2 more frigates and 2 caravel by Toledo. Seville is without resisters now, so starting moves.

_T9_ 1515 ad
Traded 2 Sipahis for 7 rifleman, 1 longbow and Madrid. Barcelona and Toledo next and then can end war. Oh between turns lost one Sipahi to a longbow.

_t10_ 1520 ad
Someones privateer took out Portuguese galleon. Now Byzantine and Spain trade embargo. Army took out 3 rifleman, 1 longbow in Toledo. Heck we have Toledo now. Spain has no harborw to connect other 2 cities to capital. Shucks.
Started another settler. We have wasted tiles by FP and could use a city between Trondheim and Reykjavik, probably half way between we don't want to restrict FP, but want current forest tile to be worked.

Darn, have to quit. ToE in ONE. No resaved. Here's how to play it. Moved ToE in two, as Industrialization is in one. When get Indust, select big picture, select Atomic Theory, F1 to city, zoom in to Bursa, reset entertainers to working tiles, and then exit F# screens. You should be able to get Industrialization/Atomic Theory/Electronics all in the first turn. I would recommend researching Communism next. We need commie govt and police stations more than other techs.

Have fun!!!

PF

Nice turns PF. Those Sipahi really slice through the opposition, huh?

Have we started a prebuild for Hoover? If not, are there any builds we could change to it?

Do they really think their piddly little embargoes can hurt the mighty Ottomans? HA!

Aye, nice turns. Will take a look at the save later to see if anything else suggests itself... :)

@scout,
:bump:, gently

Thanks for the bump Brother Bede - playing "Where's Waldo" has got me a little off on my SG cycle here... and I just posted a "thanks for bumps" in another SG thread. I'll look at the save and try to get it played tonight.

Pre-flight check ... didn't fiddle with anything...

IBT - a Portugese Galleon sinks somebody's privateer, a Spanish Galleon advances on ...something... Industrialization comes in...

Set queue through Electronics...MM Bursa
FP_Bergen Cathedral>Factory
Bursa completes ToE (@PF: This is one way cool setup! )
Atomic Theory comes in, followed by Electronics

Hmmm... replaceable parts or commie...

As much as I like Rep Parts... we do need to get out of Monarchy...Set queue to commie.
Bursa ToE>Sip
Iznik Longbow?>Factory
Toledo Riots, and a heavy tax is levied on Toledo.
Denizli Temple>Factory
Harlingen Rax>Market
Urfa Market>Bank (Police Station pre-build)
We get a palace expansion.

Turn 1 (1525)
Let's see if I can get somebody else to take a rep hit.
Dial up Theodora; MA v. Spain for Steam Power. This ends the trade embargo between us and Byzantium. :devil2: Theodora is such a cutie.
Hannibal buys the same deal.
:rotfl: Henry cracks me up in that pith helmet! Sign Henry into the dogpile for Steam...

(I hope Brother Bede warned the team about my habit of throwing ... "Parties"... Notice I didn't invite Lizzy to the party... :mischief: )

***** Battle for Barcelona
Our 10/14 Sip Army kills a Vet Rifle, now 8/14
Elite Sip kills Vet Rifle, 2/5
Elite Sip kills Reg Rifle, and we get a leader [dance]
Vet Sip kills reg Rifle, 2/4
Vet Sip kills reg Rifle, 3/4
Vet Sip kills conscript Rifle, 3/4
8/14 Army kills Vet Longbow, and Barcelona is ours
Build an Army with the Leader, load 2 Vets into it.

Knock 2 hp off a spanish Galleon, but lose a Frigate, and the game hangs.

Pause to post a progress report before I re-boot and see if I can fix this stupid machine.
