Error in tech tree? Masonry-->Monotheism

I have noticed that according to the tech tree, you should be able to research Monotheism after Polyheism.

Well, as I always shoot for an early religion, I usually go for Polytheism to get hinduism. If I don't get that one, I'll shoot for Monotheism to get Judaism. The only problem is that I can never resarch Monotheism without researching Masonry first! (And there is NO arrow from Masonry to Monotheism)

Is this a bug or is it some sort of feature (eg, you need at least X number of techs on the previous "level" before you can resarch this one...)

Has anybody else noticed this?

(I have also had the same thing happen later in the game with other techs...)

the arrows are "or" to research a tech. Instead the "must" is a small icon on the top right corner of the technology box. If you examine the tech box for Monotheism you will see in that corner the icon of Masonry.

well, it isn't really a matter of discussion for the bugs forum, plus I'm pretty sure you can read it in the manual...

however, the tech tree works differently from Civ3. The required techs to research the next ones are those that I described above, those with arrows instead, are "ors", meaning that if there are three arrows leading to one tech, you only need to have one of the previous techs to research the next, and not all the three.
