Installation went fine. When trying to run the game, though, I get the following error ...

My laptop cannot display in 1024x768, though. I can only do 1024x600 or 800x600. Please help! I really want to be able to play this game!

I have this issue as well. I can get the game to start by plugging the HDMI in to my tv or a monitor. Also, if you turn the fullscreen switch to 0 in the civ4 config file, it will start but be too big for the screen. Clicking the maximize button on the game's window will fit it to the screen after that, but squeeze it and distort the picture.

Since my laptop's native rez is 1024x600, I also set the resolution in the config file to a proportional one using the minimum 768 height as the baseline (1024*768/600=1311 so ScreenHeight = 768 and ScreenWidth = 1311).

Now the game runs fine as a maximized window and the shrinkage is proportional enough to make it picture not distorted. The text is still a bit garbly, but it's the best I could get. I un-maximize the window if I'm reading the pedia. :/
