Chieftain
Hi, I think this is a new one. I went through official and unofficial FAQs but didn't find this one.
First off, I'm in Finland and I have the EU version (due out 4.11.2005) just because I'm writing a review of Civ 4 for a Finnish gaming magazine. So don't worry, it's legit even though the game is not out in this neck of the woods yet. I know, lucky me! My own pre-release version from EBgames should arrive bu UPS today or tomorrow (I hope).
The problem: game installs from DVD but after the progress bar is full, it displays the following error message: ERROR 1706: No valid source found for product Sid Meier's Civilization 4.
Afte that the installer claims it was successful and closes. When I try to start the game, I get the Loading... splash screen for about 1 minute, then the "Wrong CD-ROM" (!) message, the same that some CD-version owners have had.
Screenshots and my full DxDiag system information attached.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Or an email address to EU support, couldn't find one, only the US Support at 2K Games. I also called the local distributor, to no avail. I'm going to try it on a co-worker's computer in a few hours, to see if it runs on his machine.
