Eurasia- Atlantic/Iran-Urals

Looks nice. I can't see the use for that much water on the left side, but I guess it came from the way you cropped it. Very detailed landscapes, I will probably use a part of it as inspiration :)

Yes there is room to chop and cut the edges. Specific to need.

However, that area of sea does serve a need, for WWII. With the wrap around. (See Pictures)

But yes, just small cropping of the edges will reduce the size to a very playable map. Modest reductions will speed up the game very much, if you are running slow. I have leaned.

Looking at the minimap makes it clear that there is not too expansive an Atlantic area once the Canary Islands are taken into account.

Many people look for ways to refresh the play of their favorite mods/scenarios. IMHO this would make a good alternative map from someone playing AD. It wouldn't take them long to import the rules & place the starting locations to their own taste. Thank you for creating a suitable base.

There is also room for a little bit of iceland. and you KNOW...someone will say..."um, you forgot iceland." :)

I really love this map. Thats why im sharing it. I think it can be used for many different eras, from ancient to Modern. I think the scale is very good and provides some good opportunities for strategic problems, which I love.

What is a strategic problem? Geographical sudden death!

A little trim to the Persian Gulf, and Persia is forced to go on the Offensive early. Or risk to lose any grow room to Babylon and Sumeria. is a good example.

Sumeria is in a hard spot. the scale gives Sumeria room to grow. a little... but it has to either move against Persia or Babylon early and fast, and it has to be to the death, or its is stuck between two powers.

I love maps with scale and geography that add strategic problems into the game. Forcing your hand, and making hard choices.

Something strange about the mountains and hills of Europe. Not that they're necessarily incorrect. Also eatern Europe is pretty featureless. Normal for map makers to ignore Russia but this means that part of the map sucks..

yes you say that on almost every post, however, in my opinion, this map... its beautiful. And correct given the limitations, and artistic freedom to enhance play.

Russia isnt featureless on this map, in the way that you mean it, and just so you know, from someone who grew up there... European Russia IS featurless!!!!

Instead of telling everyone that the map sucks because Russian isnt how you like it, why dont you try making a map.

:)

( Sorry Mods, but this guy goes map to map saying it sucks because of the reason i just said ) enough is enough

Everything you've pointed out to him is factual. The part about personal experience with the region in question is especially telling. You've reinforced a suggestion made elsewhere by another member - make a map. Then critiques are based on experience.

One may infer from the view of a map that a region is not a perfectly flat surface but there may be rivers and vegetation. Unless what appear to be a large Russian river on a map is less significant than a small river in Germany. Also unless one has spent much of their life circling around in an airplane, a person only sees a tiny fraction of their land area straight up without maps or pictures. Without the help of a map I would be clueless of how to present a visual model of my corner of my country. It would be hard to imagine what a region looks like on the scales of maps we are familiar with if one has never seen a map of the place, even though they have seen it from the 1:1 scale from their eyes. A map on the scale of 1 civ3 square to 1/2 square mile would definitely be better understood by a first-person view of the area.

This is in fact a piece of the region in question I long ago attempted to improve as requested. Yes the mini map reveals one of the 9 conquest scenarios but you'll clearly notice the section being viewed was entirely remade.

Im not even interested in your link, to me the matter is closed. Youre free to download my map, or any other, and make whatever changes you feel will enhance your playing. Or, as I pointed out, you can make your very own map, just like you want it to be. My concern is that you recognize the hard work and time by everyone who posts here, which has been put in to the individual projects. Comments do not always have to be positive, however they should be made with a genuine kind heartedness. I think you may want to also consider that this is art, and the it will never be to your exact specifications, nor should it be. Running through the threads just telling people that it sucks, because of your own personal needs, is unwarrented, and unwelcome, at least by me. I love this map, and much care and time has been spent on it. You are free to make your own conclusions.

Please consider the matter closed on your part too. Thanks.

Hmmm, looks like a very nice map, and I like the wrap around touch so that if you are playing a WW2 scenario, the British can run convoys to the Mid East.

Play tested-

Max cities are less than 250 limit.

I havn't noticed slow performance even with full map.

SS of France

Thank you, map excellent.

I do the scenarios on a similar map . But it is in Russian. XX century.

В the future will need a map of the civil war in Russia.
