Euro 2004: Group D

I can't believe what happened tonight.
I'm so happy!!! Cars are driving through my street, people with flags hanging out and making noise. Tough night to sleep... ;)

Back on topic, I'm thrilled that Holland made it. :band: I had my doubts before the tournament. I even had money riding on Germany getting second place in the pool. I did predict the Checz (sp?) to win though. [dance]

[dance] [dance] [dance] [party] :band:
I promise to go to Czechia this summer and eat lots of ketchup, go Heinz go!!!

Schade Deutschland, alles ist vorbei, alles ist vorbei, alles ist vorbei. Schade Deutschland, alles ist vorbei, alles ist vorbei, alles ist vorbei etc. etc.

Best post to quote ever :D

Nice to see two matches simultaneously on two teevees. Nice detail, half a minute before the second czech goal the dutch television switched to the germany v.s. czech match... amazing. Italian conspiracy theories anyone :goodjob:

p.s. if anyone was wondering about Stapel, he´s the `bob´ (designated driver) tonight

And I just hope this was Hamann's last match...

ok, I agree

I really don't get why Völler played with only Kuranyi as forward, a bad idea. overall deserved loss.

Alot of the choices Völler made in and before the tournament are hard to comprehend, unless he wants to leave as soon as possible.

Well, no matter who is the coach next season (I hope it's still Völler, by the way) there are a bunch of players who should be leaving forever now in the prospect of 2006, particularly Hamann, Jeremies, Wörns, Nowotny, Bobic and Ziege (what was he doing there anyway?).

A prospective team would have a defence consisting of Metzelder, Friedrich, Lahm and Fahrenhorst.

Well Hitro, as I used to tell you, I think Völler is not the right coach for Germany...

Man, the Dutch are a lucky bunch. If they ever complain about luck and referee decisions again... :p

Their goals (except for the meaningless last one, which I didn't see) were irregular, the first was no penalty, the second was offside.

Sorry, but I have a different opinion here.
We deserved a penalty earlier in the game but we didn't get it. And the next questionable situation results in a penalty. 3/4+1/4=1. That's the way I see it and I believe referees count that way too.

The second wasn't off-side. That's a consequence of the new rules regarding off-side. That can result in stupid situations (I agree as in this case), but that's the result of a stupid rule, not a bad decision of the referees.

That doesn't mean that I think that the Netherlands played so well today.
IMHO they didn't although they deserved the win today.

But if they continue to play as they did till now they will never reach the final. And that for a team with so many good players.
