Eurocentrism to the Max!!! What we gonna do?

Kongo is crazy-looking, but is very boring to play as it reduces strategical choices in exchange for passive bonuses. Greece additional Wildcard slot mechanical, but it gives so much strategical variety what Greece has more variants of playing than Kongo and India combined.

Kongo and India aren't Europeans.

Screw Variety. I want Crazy. We have enough "variable strategies" civs with a bonus to stuff you are gonna do already. Bring on the crazy.

EDIt: Why must Europe be all "flexible" civs. Bring on the heavy tilt.

I am talking about Civ6 too. I was merely giving an example that Maximising Follower Beliefs won't be passive or restrictive, based on my Civ5 game, Does religion spread look massively different? My example indicated that there is a lot of strategic Choice in India's abilities.

According to Arioch so far their is only one followers belief tied to number of Followers however the numbers of follower beliefs do look limited. To really maximise the gameplay of India's ability i would give the player reasons to balance the religions one way or the other, in one city or another. Consider Work Ethic, You would want the dominant religion to be the one with work ethic as its bonus is linked to number of followers. If perhaps there are more Follower beliefs, you could theoretically choose between 2 different religions that you are actively spreading to different cities, based on the city specialisation, in order to make the most of the beliefs. That sounds like nuanced strategic choice to me.

Kongo is actually quite Active. Yes you cant choose which religions get spread to you but certainly can choose what religion stays. ---
Part of Kongo i feel is timing your strategies based on the order that religions are spread to you. You First get Religion A which helps with growth, so you build around that. You then get Religion B which helps with Culture, so you initate the purges and build around Religion B Etc. Timing when to switch Founders Beliefs i feel is going to be important to a Kongo playthrough and is flexible as well as active, it is just you cant actually pick them yourself.

The Power Part of Kongo obviously stems from its special ability, Minkisi which is all about Great Works. How you get those great works is up to you. Are you going to Find them, Steal them, Loot them, Create Them. The bonus is passive but how you acquire the bonus is entirely up to you/. That is quite flexible in my mind. I think Kongo is quite flexible, from a different point of view.

They have said religion spread is mostly the same, but they seem to have eliminated religion from trade routes...this would be a major difficulty for India maintaining multiple religions in a city if true.

And added religious combat, which makes religion bursts, making it more difficult for India to spread evenly.

Speaking about Kongo - without ability to buy missionares (not sure if they could do so if they conquer a city with Holy Site) and without religion spreads through trade routes, their religion game looks totally passive.

Kongo - Apostles, but yes we will have to wait and see a little bit, either way you still can influence this by opening borders with some religious Civ's but not others, Actively expanding towards Civ's of a desired religion, Using population size to dilute spread of religions due to religious pressure. Nothing is ever truly passive, i would be surprised if the design team truly wanted Kongo to not be able to have influence over its Unique Ability, especially considering that unlike India you only get one founders Belief. It makes sense that you should be able dictate the one that you want :)

I never used the Trade routes to actively spread the religions in my game above. It was mainly Burning at the stake and new missionaries, making sure i had enough faith to buy the buildings and resetting the new religion. Speaking of Religious Combat, what about having two apostles from different religions but the same Civ, could you get them to fight :)...probably not :(

Well, maybe they can buy religious units in a city with a majority religion. We'll have to see.

Buying religious units requires religious buildings
Religious buildings require Holy Sites
Kongo can't build Holy Sites*

They do get Free apostles for building $ and cult districts in cities with a religion

*this has many effects... however, they can probably Capture holy Sites
-can't found religion
-no buying/building religious units
-significantly reduced faith output
-no "Worship Belief" benefits
-much reduced Relic slots (if Any)
-2 "follower beliefs" are useless (food/housing from Shrine/Temple)
