Great trip. I drove 2000 km total. Went to the Panama Channel, Old Panama, and nearly made Ozzy Osbourne Concert. It was quite a week.

That's a good trip on a bike.

Just worked out I did 1000miles (1600km) over the last 2 weekends on my bike. Half motorway and half country roads, but it was sunny and warm so I don't mind at all.

What are the roads like for bikes out there?

Well... mostly normal. I'm driving a 750cc Honda Shadow and most speed limits are 80 to 100 km/h, so it's cool. Cars here at Central America mostly don't give a damn about bikes, so you have to drive on the defensive and be wary of holes on the track, but I guess that's all normal here. The other problems are sunburning and trying to stay clear of red-zone neighborhoods. If you ever get to a central-american border/customs office you must ever be patient, as you may spend a whole 7 hours there.

The Shadow is a nice bike, the right style for going distances. I've been riding a Triumph Thruxton since last year but found it heavy on the wrists so I just part exchanged it for a Triumph 1600 Thunderbird 2 weeks ago and am loving it.

I suspect that driving on the defensive is a world wide thing, same over here in the UK. I think our main roads are better than yours so I'd guess your miles would be harder than mine. Don't get too much trouble with sun burning either but I think we get more trouble with rain

Hmm... Heh, I'd say we get worse rain here too. It rains a whole 8 months a year here anyway. Now, you have cold, and snow; we don't.
