Ever been nuked?

I was just wondering... Occasionally if you nuke a civ and they have nukes too, you get it right back. And sometimes even if you don't have nukes. But have you ever been nuked by the AI when you have nukes? It's never happened to me. Does the AI fear mutually assured destruction too?

Quite a few times, but always when I've started IIRC.

I got nuked one time, going for space ship when I had the game well in hand, but not that far ahead of the opposition. Since it was a standard game with about half the civs holding several nukes, it got ugly before I managed to launch. :D Fortunately, I had SDI or whatever that nuke protect thing in my best cities--only game I ever had that went far enough to build the protection. :D

Once in Vpr3 we were nuked without nuking anyone else (but when we were nuked we totally destroyed people.) In Jumpmasters1A, I D/Led the last save, launched all the nukes (just for fun), and got nuked back like 20 times. Other than that I don't think I have, my games usually don't last that long.

That's really weird. I play on Monarch huge pangea maps as Japan with all civs, and I've never been nuked. Is it a fluke of statistics? I always build up my ICBM force for the eventuality but it never comes. Do you think your own nuclear arsenal has anything to do with the probability of other civs nuking you?

Hey now, citizen, I'm not incompetent, I just prefer to fight in the modern era. Modern armor on mech infantry makes for some interesting battles. I can hold my own, don't worry about me. Plus, amphibious invasion becomes a lot more interesting in that era too.

Been nuked without nuking first? Oh, yeah. This one game I played (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=67720)...on Sid...first game on Sid that I know of. Yeah, we got nuked before we even knew what nukes were. Took us a while to nuke back, but it was worth it! :)

Only once I got nuked by America. We were at war, I had a strong defense stack on a border town. They nuked the town then conquered it. Bad deal for them, since i could nuke them back without suffering diplomatic penalties... I used the "nuke first, conquer then" on all their cities, they were annihilated very quickly.

No, actually the question is if you got nuked 'after' you had nukes, that is, one or more made, and hadn't launched any yourself. I'm sure a lot of us have been nuked when we didn't have any. :)

Yes. I was once at war with the Iroquois and we both had nukes. After a few turns of war, they dropped the bomb on me. (but they dropped it on a city that I captured from someone else and it was a pretty corrupt city so no real damage.)

After the other remaining civs declared war on the Iroquois, I retaliated. My motto is "For every one nuke laucnhed at me, three are fired back"

I've never actually seen nukes used, except for once when I dropped a nuke on somebody at random just to see the effect.

Unless it is Babylon  ;) Then how many :mischief: .

I play this game for 2 year (hundred of them) and I expirienced everything (or almost), so Yes, I was nuked like that  and it's "never pleasent" filling. Once I already made Protection from Nuke Attack (SMD) and Mongols still droped three ICBM on my cities, which means they send more than ten  !?! (Since every forth [should be like that] was found the target. Am I right?)

Well that's some good news actually. I always thought that is was hard coded that the AI would never make a first strike. At one point several months into playing Civ I nuked my neighbor just because I was sick of not seeing Nukes every used. Well of course they nuked me back.

In all the years I've played civ, I nave NEVER been hit by an AI first strike nuke.
