In the replay I saw one of the AIs had more GLs than I had.
There were 35 GLs in the game,3 SGLs and 32 MGLs.
I (Celts) had 10 MGLs,while the Aztecs had 14 GLs,1 SGL and
13 MGLs.I was lucky it was in Conquests.(Game was at Monarch).

i always seem to get less GLs but since im not a AI, use of them are better unless its for rushing... i guess

I'm lucky if I get one GL in a game.

Doesn't the AI always use units in a stack in order? So they wouldn't always use their elites to attack first, I thought their chances of getting MGLs was about as likely as when I got a MGL from a Hwach'a.

Not likely. On Emperor level, if I play militarictic Civ, I get around 40-50 MGLs for whole game.If not militarictic civ - around 25-30, twice less. In my last game, 1430 year now, around dicovery of refining, still having 30 % from world I got my 20th MGL. In War Academy there is a topic about leader farming - very usefull I found it, I persue GLs each turn where its possible. My best result was 7 MGLs per turn. Still trying to beat it. On higher levels they can be more I guess. Problem is, there is no so much troops which can be killed for one turn. Maybe on higher level, I'll move soon to demigod

What is an MGL etc....? I cannot understand a word of this!

It took me a while to figure out, too. Unless I play a militaristic civ, I rarely get more than 1 or 2 in a game.

I usually play emperor and outduel the AIs for MGLs at a rate of about 7-1!
I almost always play as Celts, Vikings and Iroquois ;) :mischief: .

They need to be farmed. Artilery is the key. Survival rate is way higher. There is a page in war academy. Helped a much, briliant ideas. I consider militaristic trait very, very strong. Since I fam leaders, I cant remember which one of small wonders I did by hand in my last several games. I always use MGLs. Only once I think Wall Street, bcs it was faster to biuld it, than to bring my leader there to rush it

A question regarding this matter - Does the AI get leaders when they fight amongst themselves?

I haven't yet in all the games I've played seen an AI army!!! I rarely fight battles that I don't win, so almost all of the leaders that the AI pops when I fight them are killed at the end of my turn!!!! (this is on monarch)

Yes- I have noticed a leader being produced in a battle between the Arabs
and Mongols  --- The Arabs made a POINT of killing it off before it
could get away!

Just checked replay of my current game:

Inca - 1
Mongols - 1
Iroqious - 4
Holland - 1
Maya - 2
Aztec -2
HIttities - 2
Babylon - 2

There were 5 more civs with no MGL. I got my 29th and 30th MGLs in turn I used last SGL. Still Mongols need to be conquered - around 350 units in his army. Btw, in late ages its easier, tanks have blitz u can promote them very quickly. In my next game I plan to play russians. Beside other traits, Cossacks have blitz, so they are kinda militaristic also, promotions are easier.

All this is till 1665 AD, Emperor level(time to move up, tho)
