Quetsion to everyone, man and woman:

When you arrange a date, and then, come dating time you either just don't feel like it or cynically hope to gain something by cancelling, do you think that the victim genuinely believes that your excuse is genuine? Or do you take it for granted that he/she knows you are lying? Or something else (see poll :) )

If I am canceling a date with someone it probably means I don't really like them.

If I do like them, then I would make sure to plan the date for another SPECIFIC time so they would know I am still intrested in them: this day is just not convient.

The best thing would be to be honest and then forget about it. Whether they believe you or not is irrelevant. Andrew's post of making another date if you like the person is good, but it does no one any good to wonder after the fact.

Considering the amount of responses in this thread, I'd surmise that CFCers are too desperate to actually cancel a date ;)

I don't do dates/relationships.

I don't make excuses, I tell them straight.

If I don't like someone, I don't associate with them anyway.

Could not have said it any better.

Ditto here.

I've never cancelled a date....even when I had a fever I still went on the date.

I don't generally go on dates, so on the rare occasion that I do it's because I really want to.
