that's a heck of a beard for an ancient crone there, gmaharriet ;)
I guess this would be more appropriate, huh? :p

@ Walking in the snow, uphill both ways: I know that's not possible under normal circumstances, but wouldn't it be interesting? The school is at the start on top of a large snowy hill. And then, the houses are at the bottom of that same hill. The houses and the school are attached to a large rotating disk centered between the two in the middle of the hill. When everyone gets to school, the school gets too heavy and the whole disk rotates so that the school falls to the bottom, and the houses go to the top. Same thing afterschool. When everyone gets to the houses, THEY become to heavy and the whole thing rotates again.

Needless to say, injuries would be very common on that hillside community.

Or:

The school is on a grassland and the houses are on a grassland with a hill between them, on a three tile island. Uphill, both ways. Downhill, both ways, too.

Now as to why the school is on the other side of the hill, well, that must have a been a committee decison.

'None of us are as dumb as all of us.'

you just gotta change the knitting to a laptop ;)
Um, that's just a very old photo of me and I didn't have any more recent ones with a computer in my lap, but trust me...it's there. :p

unrelated comment-
Marsden said "back when you were my age" acknowledging the fact that you are actually older than him. (whether he meant to or not). If he was calling you young, he would have said back when i was your age. just felt like pointing that out.

Yes, eddfire, that is Exactly what I typed and intended. It's a type of joke, kind of a visual pun. You presume to read it the commonly put way but it's actually slightly different. But, of course, because I am explaining the joke, therefore it failed to be funny. My age is on my public profile, and I make no effort to hide it.

And how could anyone possibly take seriously a post that starts

Well, ladies and gentlemen, November 9th is almost us. Tomorrow is the day of my dreaded Doctor's appointment. I thought that I should post now, because I might not get the chance later.

I am (at heart) a realist with pessimistic tendencies. I have been feeling under the weather for quite awhile now, and who knows what the new Doctor will find tomorrow.

Back in the late 1980s, I was feeling similar to how I'm feeling now (more or less). I went to RediMed, because I couldn't keep my balance for some reason. The doctor there took one look at me and wanted a blood sample. He took some blood, and went to analyze it. He came back not 5 minutes later, and told me to go to the hospital immediately!

I want to thank everybody for their help with this game. I never thought that I could actually compete at Regent level let alone WIN!

To everyone who lurked in the shadows and followed along with the story, I thank you as well.

If the antics of President E626 and his Joint Chiefs of Staff made you laugh, and forget your troubles for just a moment, then I am very happy.

See you soon! (Hopefully)

Don't talk like that. I try not to worry about stuff, although I always am, but just wait and see. I just went to an appointment I was worked up over yesterday but they said what I was worried about was fine, yet they managed to send me for a test today. :crazyeye: I know what worrying ahead of time can do, you should try to keep your mind off of it. Actually, if I didn't worry so much I probably would never have posted here originally because one of the best ways I can distract myself is to play civ. Really. I'm not drawing this back to the game, it's just the fact that when life gets on my nerves I can "go to civ" and things I worry about get pushed out for a while.

Make sure you let us know how you are. Email me if you'd like. I'd really appreciate actually. Thanks.

You know, you're the closest I've ever had to a "pen pal" and I'd like our correspondence to continue.

Poppycock!

You'll be back. How else do you plan to get to Emperor without your own private gang of cheerleaders/coaches/nitpickers/two-bit story tellers?

We'll be waiting.

Well, the physical went OK. It included my very first prostate exam

I have to get a CAT scan next Thursday, and have to see a specialist about my tummy soon.

Thanks to all of you for your kind words. I know that I shouldn't worry, but it's my nature to do so.

More later . . . :thanx:

Please don't scare us, those of us that were. Just get your tests taken, and then we can start your Japanese adventure!

Of course, don't hesitate to let us know what is going on, too.

I heard some years back that there was a blood test that could take the place of the DRE for prostrate problems.

Which sounds good! (Unless your doctor is a sadist. :cringe: )

I had to do the same a year ago (um, minus the prostate exam ;) ), then had an endoscopy in looking for the cause of tummy pains. They found absolutely nada, saying the pain was just spasms caused by stress and for which there is a sorta "magic" pill.

I'd been terrified, so I can imagine how you must be feeling. I hope it's nothing more than they found with me, and I'll be thinking positive thoughts about you.

At the physical, the Doctor told me that he'd like for me to take a blood test. Since this was the first time at the new Doctor's, I thought, 'No problem'. As I'm sitting in the 'vampire's' chair, she tells me that the Doctor has lined up 12 Blood tests for me. She ended up taking 3 of those test-tube thingies full of blood out of me!

I'm amazed that I had enough blood left to drive home after that.

Yeah, those needles are no fun. :( Be sure to let us know when you get the results. :scan:

They took 8 out of my wife when she was pregnant, just think about that one.

And, yes, please let us know what's happening, as we all care.

Yes, we're definitely following along, and wishing you well.

And, I'm reminded of the famous movie lines from your namesake ...

Ohana. Family. Means nobody left behind. Or forgotten.

God bless you, and your family.
