Experiment 626's Solo TDG

You know, we still have that little matter of the Invasion to plan. Should I roll over Arabia (razing every city as we go, followed by Settlers). I want to control every Deposit of Rubber, Oil, Aluminum, and Uranium on the planet, so I can nuke 'em til they glow and then shoot them in the dark!

Does anyone have any thoughts on this matter?

I think you should roll over the arabs and not raze anything.

The reason is you should expect to take over the Arabs reasonably fast, so if a city does flip, you just take it back. And it's better to take their cities than build your own ;)

it does mean that you end up running around recapturing cities.

Some planning tips ...

-- use ctrl-shift-M to temporarily remove the French slums and Arab towns from view, and take a good look around their continent. Note where
the resources are, and how close they are to the shoreline. This is a toggle,
so you can ctrl-shift-M to put them back, too. Make sure that Joanie
hasn't actually planted a city on top of a resource, or that a resource
has not reappeared under one of her worthless villes. You might have
to raze those cities.
-- Once you've found the resources, look for coastal mountains that are good for landing your troops. Warmaster Marsden probably has some good
advice here, as well. The main idea is to land all of your troops onto
a mountain top, to take advantage of the defensive bonus, and wait
for Joanie to send her troops in a vain attempt to dislodge you.
-- I've read about a couple of different techniques, but will defer to the
Warmaster for recommendations. One idea is to bring along a worker or three,
to build a fort on the mountain in one turn; the defensive bonus is
greatly increased. Another idea is to bring along artillery, so that you can
redline the attackers before they even get to the mountain.
-- Be sure to have enough ships, so that you can land a big SoD quickly.
Some escorts/picket ships would be good, to fend off the odd AI warship.

Congrats Mr Pres. I am glad i was able to be of service, but I must say i will miss this. Looking forward to your (and ours) next great adventure.

Wow, I'm gone for a few days and everything finishes without me.

Good job, that's a good score for regent. As to keep playing, my feeling is the game is over, if you wanted to kill them you should have done it before you launched and ended. If your doing it just for practice, then do what you like and see what works, you really have a vast tech advantage, their weapons will be no match for yours.

Good luck, looking forward to seeing you next game. I am going to miss this, I've gotten rather used to looking at this over the last seven months.

And I thought you would have given me a laurel, and harty handshake.

I cleaned up the Polluted square and changed a few cities' production. Other than that, I haven't done much. Hopefully, RL will ease up a bit soon, so I concentrate on seizing all Uranium, Aluminum, and Oil Deposits on the Beta Continent, then Joanie will glow in the dark.

Right now, for the next game, I'm actually leaning towards being the Japanese. I've had visions of multitudes of Samurai swarming across the continent, conquering everything and everybody in sight.

I'll keep you posted.

Well, the Invasion of the other continent has begun, and is going quite well (except for my 3 vModern Armor getting whacked by 1 vCavalry).

I'm going after Arabia first to seize the Oil, Aluminum, and Uranium. They have about 8 cities left on the northern part of the continent, and the 3 on the southern part. (I'll save those for last). The year is 1936 AD, and we are now a Fascist Government.

I'll play more next week.

Later!

Fascist!! Heil President!!

Hmm. why fascism over communism? I don't know, but I would guess that communism would be better - the new cities we capture would actually have some production. Or do you just want to see how fast industrious workers with rep parts work under fascism? Must be as if they were on crack...

You ain't kidding! Even captured Workers can now build a Road in 1 turn. It's sweet!

So, how do you like Fascism? It's often considered a sucky government, because you lose population from everywhere.

That is the downside of Fascism, but it's working fine. I could double my military, and still not pay anything in support. :D

Not yet! I haven't played since my last post. Hopefully, I can get back to it soon, if RL permits it. :(

Note of Sickness
I was disappointed in the nuke effects in CivIII. I thought that the CivII nukes sounded better and had better animiation than the CivIII nukes.

Yeah, I have odd tastes.

I agree completely.

A bit Off-Topic, but perhaps we could discuss the next TDG. I have decided to be Japanese (I'm turning Japanese, I really think so . . . Oops, 80s Music flashback there)

What should the landmass be? I was thinking Pangaea, but what are your thoughts?

It will be a Standard size map, so I'll have to have at least 4 AI Civs for the game to be HoF-Friendly. What would be good choices for them?

And any other advice re: the next game will be greatly appreciated. :goodjob:
