If/when this happens I would attempt to make it as painless as possible (videos/guides/responding to threads/discord/etc), and I/anyone else who is willing would be available to help with any aspect until people are happy with it.
I understand it is a change, but I hope it would be one where in a weeks time people are totally over it, and either wishing it had happened earlier, or at worst not noticing much difference.

Perhaps I can eventually get someone to explain why when I had discord working on my old machine it wont work on my new one because there is already someone with that login, but not now in a couple of weeks when I get back.

If you didn't claim your account (add password, email etc.) it will be bound to some identifier on your browser, which would obviously not transfer to a new PC. So you couldn't claim it again until it went inactive which I guess takes a couple of weeks.
