Exploration thread

Ok, I'll play it.

Thank you!

I think we made a good choice exploring to the west. Last game we had a jungle as a buffer between each pair of teams on a continent. Could it be hill country is the buffer this time? If so, then there's someone else onthe other side of the mountain. Also, I'd be willing ot bet dollars to donuts that we're all on the same land mass this time around. I doubr Rik put us on two continents with a 3/2 split or three continents with a 2/2/1 split. Of course we could each be on our own island.

Any thoughts on this?

Do we want to continue west? Do we want to let the others know where we are this soon?
I know making contacts is invaluable, but how much do we want it this early?
Is early always best, I guess that is the question I have in my head here.
:D

Ideally we want to find someone's borders without them finding us. And you're right, early contact is not always good. Alot depends on what we do with the contact. In the last game we found the Nutters first but things went downhill from there.

I would agree - we are all on our own island, or we are all on the same landmass. it is *possible* that we are on our own island and the other 4 are on 2 islands, but I doubt it.

I think that unless another civ is very close, any early war will hurt both teams. Any cities taken will be very corrupt and the resources used could be used for other things - like exploring or expansion.

It's our turn again - we have to play the save in less than 12 hours. There has been a motion (which was seconded) to move Choi SW and Jong-Yul W. Here's the pic from turn 10:

I agree with these directions. It seems the mountain range ends where Choi is, so climbing that western mountain seems worthwhile even if it is a diagonal movement. And Jong-Yul should head for the mountain 3W.

One thing about diagonal vs. rectilinear movement: It may indeed be that rectilineal uncovers more tiles on average than diagonal, but this neglects the effects of hills.

In a game like this, we do better to move diagonally to get onto a choice piece of real-estate than to wait for the averages to catch up scores of turns later.

So in this case, I'd definitely move to the hill or mountain.

I agree. Climb the western mountain

Also sounds like a good plan.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure those are marshes.

Both explorers W for next turn I guess.
