I strongly disagree! Consider what things were like in the ancient world -- Alexander the Great, for example, conquered all the way out to India. India could've had some intermittent contact with China, either across the mountains or around the SE Asian peninsula. China would have contact with Japan across the small sea there. And you could have everyone in contact with each other before the end of the BCE's! I've had things like this happen plenty of times during game play.Originally posted by Elden
Number One and Three are good but I don't like number two at all, will it be easy to mod back to normal.

:-D I knew from hearing this that it would change the dynamics of the game. Although doesn't it slow the tech pace a lot during the early years? I find it goes slow enough as it is. I'm slightly worried that without trading contacts the tech pace may slow too far.

This would be way to powerful. If you get explorers before anybody else, and you find a new continent with your carracks, you can gain a ton of land, without any cities. If this was applicable, then why not let all terrain your troops are on belong to you (thereby deleting the need for a right of passage). It's jsut too powerful. Good idea historically though.

Maybe there could be an option to claim rights to a certain strip of land but not to actually own it. Then these strips could be exchanged in the trade menu like cities. It would bring an intresting new dynamic to the game, methinks, being able to shape borders, etc.

Okay, okay, this is too cool. I give up. I wasn't going to buy C3C for a few months, but betwen the exploit fixes and the exploration changes I'm probably going to buy it ASAP. There goes my November...
