Extended Nuclear War

that takes too much time when you REALLY NEED the resource

What takes to much time?

If you park a worker(s) on the pillaged resource you can restore it at anytime. Once you have your builds started you can pillage it again.

You have to spell these things out for us, Nero :crazyeye:

In theory you could just stand a couple of workers and a military unit on top, rebuild the road, change all the builds to whatever you want, and raze the road once the build order is set. You can do that every turn if you want to. Just make sure not to go to the IBT with the resource connected or an ICBM will drop on your head  Not a bad trick... limited usefulness, kind of exploitive, but in a pinch its better than having nukes hitting you every turn. Its kinda like not hooking up a resource before you can really use it lest it expire. Nowadays I refuse to hook up sources of oil right after research finishes on refining in the dozen or so turns until I get motor transport. Only then do I hook it up and have all my cities start builds on tanks. Otherwise, oil likes to deplete on me before I even start to use it

Well thanks for spelling it out:rolleyes:

Not a theory it works!

I see a lot of people chastising others for "exploiting" this and that. I tend to not worry about it to much, what ever makes the game more enjoyable:D

You are wasting any beyond the third one. No additional damage will be done, if targeting the same spot. All units will be destroyed after 3 rounds, even elite mechs, if they can be destroyed by nukes.

IOW things like ICBM's will never be damaged by nukes, so no need to try. The only value to a single nuke is to cut the roads and kill workers as only few troops can be killed in one shot.

Now I am only talking about ICBM's as I do not use tactical nukes and do not make subs.

Generally I've got cash to spare at this point. Also, I have more than three because I'm not always able to reach every city in the first few turns, especially if they have a large empire.

Hehe I do what I can :D

Agreed, though. If the AI gets to know which of my cities is undefended, and gets free units and faster builds Monarchy on up, I don't see a problem with using existing game mechanics to balance it out. I don't believe in a fair fight. I'm in it to win it! HOORAH :ar15::run:

Fair fights are so much more fun. :aargh:

as long as i have a lot of worker at beginning i can win this game
and don't need any nuclear weapon to win war.
:D:D:D
just for tips build alot of worker on beginning is usefull
a least 100 in large map.
and 150 in huge map.

... or, build lots and lots of military and steal all your neighbors' workers. Those are free :D I'm running an emporer game right now where my ENTIRE work force is slaves. I haven't stopped to count yet, but I have 30 at LEAST, and just hit 0 AD. Still got two more civs to run over in the next 100 years too, so probably 10 - 20 more workers soon.

You can just check in the Military Advisor screen...:goodjob:

Not that its really relevant or on topic, but the total is 67 slaves right now :D Although that includes some addtional conquests since last posting. I got a few more from Germany after removing them from the continent, own everything the Persians once had, and just wiped out SHaka's miserable, jungle ridden 3-city kingdom. This is addition to the Russian and Greek slaves I had before.

And I dunno if it changes in C3C, but vanilla doesn't tell me how many units I have captured. It just tells me I have 0 national workers and that I'm paying nothing for them. I had to count the little buggers by hand, although many of them are stacked and bored right now since almost everything is already improved. Guess I could go and fort everything now or something :p

If you use CAII, select Territory and it will show you how many slaves you have.

y'know, I really do need to get CAII :p so much wasted time checking trade screens to see if anyone has researched a tech I want to buy....

CA II is so useful, you'll wonder why you didn't use it before. Some use MapStat, which is very similar. Those programs are keeping track of stuff you wouldn't have time to, and really boost your game if used properly. Playing Civ 3 without them is like shovelling snow in the nude, you could, but why?
