Extra leaders?

I'm a civ noob but i've been lurking through the strat forums and i've noticed that people are playing leaders like Darius of Persia and Lincoln for america. How are they getting these leaders? Is it a mod? Thanks.

Dont know exactly which leaders came with which expansion , but the leaders are from the warlords and beyond the sword expansion.

You should get BTS (Beyond the Sword). It gives you the additional leaders, unique buildings, lots of good stuff to play with, such as espionage. When you try BTS you won't go back. Finding RFC (Rhye's and Fall of Civilization) (mod) is worth the cost of BTS alone for me. As BTS is a few years old it doesn't cost much anymore. If you get Complete you get the Warlords scenarios as well, for what it's worth.

Those two are from BtS. If you look in the information section on BtS and Warlords elsewhere on the site you can see what civs and leaders are added. Like Ataxerxes, I encourage you to get BtS. It is worthwhile, and I say that as someone who resisted buying it for at least a year after release.

Now if you do get BtS and you still don't have enough leaders, you can download Kochman's Custom Leaderheads Pack. There's plenty of variety in there.
