ExtremeMod

Have you tried adding the fonts in the Mod's Font directory to your Window's directory?

Also, did you try to download the original mod at all (the Civil War Mod)? I wonder if it somehow corrupted one of the fonts -- perhaps re-installing the mod would help (though hopefully you won't have to redownload it).

This is the craziest thing?

Also check: C:\Documents and Settings\XXX\My Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\MODS

make sure there isn't anything there?

Nothing in My Docs. I thought I had dled the Civil War Mod at one point, but I don't see any sign of it. I probably deleted it.

I added the fonts to Windows, though they were already installed.

I'll keep digging around and see if there is anything I can find.

First of all i must say that I really enjoy this Mod. However I got a problem with the gunboat, everytime I try to build it the game crashes

Gah! I am sorry to hear that. I get that often in my testing and it is always due to the modeling of the unit. I will look at it tonight and patch it this weekend.

Looking at it from work, everything looks good but it may be a contention between the animation and the model that is causing the problem.

Version 1.2 is going to be pushed out on Friday and I will make sure the gunboat works then. This next version has some really interesting stuff, I bet you will enjoy it.

Heres a simple suggestion, weed out most of the Civs that came over from Thomas' War such as the Aborigines, Akkadians, Charn and such. Keep the core civs and a few leaderheads. As far as the Confederacy goes, I think there was an animated Jefferson Davis leaderhead somewhere around here, and giving them some new music (Dixie) and using the American unit selection wouldnt hurt either.

Yes, in time I will swap out some or all of the leaderheads (Civilizations). At the present time I am working on Techs and units, but will eventually move back to the core Thomas' War stuff. The different civilizations is what originally attracted me to the mod, so I am reluctant to get rid of one of the aspects I loved about the original.

As for animated heads, I just don't see the appeal -- seems like a lot of horsepower wasted just to see minimal head movement. I don't foresee me going to animated leaderheads anytime soon. I would love to add allot more civilizations though -- I have been told there is no limit to the number I can add. Suggestions are always appreciated!

My primary focus right now is to fill in the Tech Tree and add in several layers of interesting units.

Thanks for the suggestions and helpful hints; always looking for more!

Tomorrow I will be releasing version 1.2 of Extreme. It adds additional technologies, units, and an overhaul to the Corporations.

I have also fixed the bug with the Gunboats (hopefully) and reluctantly had to remove a few units because they just wouldn't play nice.

The new download (which will be the complete Mod) will hopefully be ready in the afternoon.

@vebear thanks for the spoiler idea, when I saw that in my email I first thought you were just grieving me but it makes absolute sense. I apologize for my newbiness but with help from good guys like yourself my mod will improve drastically.

If I had the models I would. I discovered the zebra stuff and it was like, "Wow!!!" I have to get this in the game.

Next week I release version 1.35 and the major addition to that is a line of "Steampunk Technology" including blimps, jetpack knights, and steam-powered mechs. Should be interesting.

I just wonder, any plans on adding more civs than just the Confederate Empire (best name for the South, I have to say)? I think there are too few civs in Central Eurasia, so IgorS' Uzbek and cyberxkhans Kazakh and Göktürk civ would be a great addition. Also a Central Africa based civ would be great. An idea could be the Kanem Empire led by Dabbalemi. I also miss a lot of American Nations, and is suggest to rename the Native American into Sioux Empire and add the Iroquois. South American additions would be Argentina, led by Peron and Brazil, led by Dom Pedro II.
Other possible additions may be the Chola and Chile and Australia (they would fit good with a Rabbit Proof Fence UB replacing walls ).
And just a small hint. Since both the Illuminati and the FreeMasons do not have any associated buildings, adding them as Projects instead of Wonders would be a good idea ;)

I would love to add more civilizations. Personally I think more American Nations (Native Americans) would be very interesting including the Huron and Iroquois (maybe even the Mohicans!).

I thought about looking into some of the very early Mediterranean civilizations too -- such as the Minoans. I need to do more research on that.

Always looking to add more, more, and more!!! :D

Projects? I need to look into what this is I guess -- I know of the Manhattan Project and the Space Project but thought they were just additions to Wonders. Thanks for the tip!

Hopefully this weekend (August 30th 2010) I will be releasing version 1.3 of ExtremeMod. Two of the new additions that I am excited about is the Steampunk line of technology and a new line of Genetics.

Steampunk has three new techs (Steampunk, Ether, and Liftwood) with 4 new units (Jetpack Knights, Light Steam Tanks, Heavy Steam Tank, and a Meganaut).

From the Genetics line (which I am toying with now) there will be at least three new technologies and a vast array of new units including several genetically modified animals.

I hope these unusual additions will just add a ton of fun to the game!!

For some reason I'm getting this error when I try loading the mod

Make sure you do not change the name of the mod. If there is a 2 at the end of the folder, subtract that so that it just says: "ExtremeMod".

Also make sure you put it in the BTS Mod directory, something like this: C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods

Make sure it is not in the "Documents and Settings" \My Documents\My Games . . . directory at all.

Also as pointed out by "The Lopez" it can take a few minutes to load -- so if it doesn't appear to do anything, it may be loading.

I have seen that error a plenty and it is usually three things:
1. Mod is the wrong name
2. Mod is not in the C:\Program Files\. . . . directory
3. The original game was not installed correctly (you must install the game from the original disks, blah. . .blah...blah drill).

I hope you can get it going because Extreme is a lot of fun to play; and I update it each week with new content.

Cheers!
