ExtremeMod

Ah, I kinda feel like a noob now. Didn't realize the folder had a 2 after it. Thanks!

Not your fault. It was my fault entirely.

I was prepping the file to upload to Atomic Gamer and never noticed my computer added the "2".

I guess that 2 is causing me more problems than I thought!

Hey, for some reason none of the unit or city commands are appearing. The hotkeys do works though. Sorry for the problems.

Spoiler :

ExtremeMod is based on the :king:Thomas War :king: Mod and hence I am offering what tsentom1 had to say about this issue:

This can occur for several reasons.

The game being played from the My Games MODS directory instead of the main BTS mods directory (default path usually something like program files/firaxis games/sid civilization iv/beyond the sword/mods)

Not being patched to at the latest BTS 3.19

Sometimes, just alt-tabbing and minimizing-maximizing the mod can correct the error.

Having a conflicting mod in your custom assets (such as BUG or BAT) -- please remove them from the custom assets and try.

If you are still missing an interface after trying all the steps above you should check to see if you are also experiencing a missing interface with other big user-made mods from the forum (such as Extra, Next War Advanced, Fall From Heaven, Rise of Mankind, History in the Making, etc. etc.) If you are then the problem is most likely not caused by the ExtremeMod files, but rather something with your installation or custom assets. If this is the case, you are probably better served posting a thread in the Technical Support forum.

Version 1.35 being uploaded on Friday.

This is what I have planned so far:

Changes --
Spoiler :

+++++Alterations & Adjustments++++++++

Animals: Creatures no longer concern themselves with cultural barriers and will wander around hunting anything that moves. They may also be inclined to attack villages.

Barbarians: Tweaked a number of values making them a bit more numerous at specific times. Reset them back to being just plain old non-descript barbarains.

Scoring System: Adjusted the scoring system of the game to emphasize a bit more of Land grabbing and population.

Towers have been made more expensive to build and takes about 10 percent more labor to construct

Villages, Hamlets, and Towns all perform a bit better

Workshops are bit more effecient.

Trireme: The ship's combat strength is increased to 3 (from 2 points).

Rangers: Adjusted their combat to +300% vs. animal units.

Hunters: Adjusted their combat to +200% vs. animal units.

Imperialism Civic now has the capital gaining +25% in all areas.

Paratroopers: Requires Early Flight.

Mount Rushmore: Needs High Explosives now.

Starting Worker: Fixed the errant starting worker. Starting civilizations now start with 1 settler and 1 Ranger.

Several technologies now offer hints or glimpses at units that can be produced -- a sort of a teaser for the empire.

After I posted the latest update, I discovered that some Giant Spiders have slipped through a dimensional hole and now can sometimes be found wandering in the early part of the game. I am making a fix for it now and will post it when I think I found an answer.

If you see one very early on, you can kill these monsters quickly if it is the first or second time you have attacked a barbarian. After that, be much more careful around them.

I apologize for the error.

If you find the "bug" annoying, you can patch it with this download: http://www.atomicgamer.com/file.php?id=87774

Download the zip file and extract it to your desktop. Navigate to something like this: C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\ExtremeMod\Assets\XML\Units

Replace the file extracted with the one in the Units folder.

The bug will be gone -- for a while!!

Jet pack knight = CTD

Try this simple little fix. I did it on my end and it worked, so I am crossing my fingers.

Go into my mod
Go into Assets
Go into XML
Go into Art
Open CIV4ArtDefines_Unit.xml with WordPad (or Notepad)
Edit-->Find
Type: Jetpack
This will jump to the part of the XML pretaining to the JETPACK_KNIGHT
Second line: <Button>,Art/Interface/Buttons/Units/jetpack_knight.dds</Button>
Remove the ',"
so it is: <Button>Art/Interface/Buttons/Units/jetpack_knight.dds</Button>

Load game back up and see if it crashes

Let me know!

That fixed the problem however I noticed another oddity namely that combustion no longer is a requirement for mech infantry

I've had an XML problem every time I try to start a game. The mod itself loads fine, but when I click the button to launch the game I get a frozen main menu backdrop with the corresponding music. Then, I get this same message that says:

Spoiler :
CvLSytemLoadError: In CIV4BonusInfos.XML, bonus BONUS_LIFTWOOD is marked as bUseLSystems. However, the improvement IMPROVEMENT_LUMBERMILL that uses it does not have bUseLSystems set. Correct this error by enabling LSystems on the improvement in CIV4ImprovementInfos.xml, or by disabling Lsystems on the bonus.

I'm new to modding, mainly because straight BtS and its release mods were good enough for me, but I love the concepts behind yours. Any help so I can enjoy it?

I have never seen that error before.

I would suggest trying to download the mod again, or if you still have the zip file try uncompressing it again.

I would be curious to know if anyone else is having this problem.

Make sure you are putting the mod in the correct folder
Make sure you have the latest build of BtS (3.19)
Make sure you are not naming the mod anything different (ExtremeMod)

I have put together an Immense sized Earth map; is is 200 squares by 120 squares. It is a very large map, coming in at 24,000 squares and will require a relatively beefy machine to play late into the game.

In the world I put 18 civilizations placed relatively close to their real world locations. Some room for creative license and for the sheer size of the world may create some unusual terrain or odd resources. Although I did not spend hours on it, I think I have made a generally fun map that recreates our planet well.

I have included the following civilizations into the map: Churchill, Kamehameha (Hawaiian), Hitler, Mussolini, Pol Pot, Cardenas, David (Israel), Adriaen van der Donck (Netherlands), Dom Pedro, Logan, Yagan, Zara Yaqob, Cleopatra, Shapur II, Pericles, Ho Chi Minh, Kublah Khan, and Peter (Russia).

Have fun!

Loving the mod so far but have one small problem, I have yet to find liftwood or the strange metal needed for most steampunk units, so I am wondering has these been added in the mod?
