What do the citizens want; speedy research or lotsa cash to cashrush and upgrade ?

We currently have 1591 gold and are researching Mass Production.
Sci 100% -> Due in 2 at -79 gpt.
Sci 90% -> Due in 2 at +49 gpt.
Sci 80% -> Due in 2 at +175 gpt.
Sci 70% -> Due in 3 at +322 gpt.
Sci 60% -> Due in 3 at +450 gpt.
Sci 50% -> Due in 3 at +567 gpt.
Sci 40% -> Due in 4 at +763 gpt.
Sci 30% -> Due in 5 at +889 gpt.
Sci 20% -> Due in 8 at +1039 gpt.
Sci 10% -> Due in 15 at +1158 gpt.
Sci 0% -> Due in 38 at +1297 gpt.

I prefer some marginally slowed down research with a big + gpt. The Persians are paying us about 350 gpt. 1 small war will decrease our financial means a lot. And we have a lot of cities to build up. And we have 5 Galleons to upgrade. Also we need some proper financial base to be able to pay for the upkeep of the huge invasion force we'll be needing to fight Persia.

But enough of what I think; what do the citizens want ? Cash or knowledge ?

I say put Science at 50%

I say 80%, because we want to get mass production in 2 turns, motorized transport hopefully in 6, maybe 7 turns (including 2 mt turns). We need them for better killing the Egyptians.

Egypt is only 1 tech away from replaceable parts and has rubber. (Persia knows it, maybe Egypt even trades for it soon.)

If we reduce research to 50%, we will have 12 turns or more before we can attack with tanks. And IMHO that is too late.

Summary: high enough to get mp in 2 turns, mt in 4-5 turns.

As our goal is conquest, I think we should try to get tanks as soon as possible. This will help quicken our wars, which will help improve our gpt. Tanks are also superior to cavalry with the same maintenance cost. After we research motorized transportation, researching sanitation quickly will help some of our cities have increased commerce, but other than that, a slower research rate will be acceptable to save money.

In conclusion, I would like 80% (obviously decreased if possible without slowing down research) at this time and tanks as soon as possible, but later slower research is acceptable.

There is a 392 gpt difference between the two, yet it is only a one turn difference in research.

Well spotted Zarn.

This was not meant as a discussion "pick your percentage", but more in general lines. Go all out research or research fast with some funds ? The table is only valid for some (2 or 3) turns, while the debate continues.

Let me rephrase:
How fast do we want tanks ?
Do we want some cash buildup as well ?
What research / funds balance do the citizens desire after tanks ?

Afterwards, we should go for the less time to research rather than more of the cash, but it would be nice to build some cash up now seeing as we only have roughly 1500.

80% We want to research fast but get the most amount od gold at the same time. As long we are ahead in the tech race, we want to stay ahead...

Let's research at 80%. Once we have tanks, we can start looking at cutting back on research, but until then, every turn that we can use to build up tanks counts.

80%, I want tanks ASAP. Also, any cav builds can be quickly converted to tanks. DR and Groton should be tank factories late this turnchat.

Minister,

I don't understand why we "stop research" as per your tc instructions after getting motorized transport.

You say "the people have spoken". Did I miss something? Why not go e.g. for sanitation which we can to get in 4 turns at 50% with still +567 gpt? :confused:

I am going to have to say 80% myself. I think we want tanks. Badly. 80 percent gives us the time and the cash, and still makes sure we keep ahead once we have Mass Prod. Could we still make it so that on the last term we do it as low as it can go w/ 1 turn remaining for GPT reasons?
