How many faction names are in the game? can you pick one?

They appear to be based on leader and affinity. So there are probably 24 and they are assigned rather than chosen.

I think the player always gets the name "United Federation" regardless of sponsor and affinity. The player is supposed to be the "good guy" bringing peace to the galaxy.
