Why no heroes and quick speed?

I do not know much about the game options but Quick speed sounds good. But what does the 'no heroes' option mean exactly?

Anyway, I'm in.

No, quick speed does not sound good.

No heroes means exactly that, and that we would be missing out on a lot of fun gameplay elements.

Why no heroes and quick speed?

Heroes are ok just not those Armagadon units I'm not sure what they are called but they will not be checked in the "options"
Speed I think should be quick because I'm 68 turns into a 2 player PBEM with Oliver and I wish I had more techs

Updated post #2

Luthor what Leader do you want?

Well if you only care about the Armageddon units you should instead just either deactivate the Armageddon counter for good or activate that option which halves every change to it so it takes longer to come around.

Taht is all fine but... what has 'quick speed' or 'normal speed' to do with all that? Or does it make the Armageddon counter go faster?

The speed is just personal preference.

Will we fill the map with AIs too? I'd like to have every single civ included.

... ok fine, fine, I'm in, you twisted my arm.

I also prefer normal speed. I'm sure the early game will take a bit to get going, but quick is just awful, I'm sorry. Normal speed is perfect for PBEMs.

Not sure who I will be or anything, I will need to investigate the mod and get back to you.

Edit: where do I get the mod we will be using?

Good to have you onboard Nighthawk. :goodjob:

Hm, will we be using Vanilla FFH or one of its modmods?

Update Post #2, #3

I will choose a "Good" Race

I'm unsure if I want the "Wildlife" Doubled at spawn???

Normal and Quick speed only (as far as I know) regards the amount of turns it takes to complete each Tech. Armageddon refers to this

lol Espionage on?

Welcome Nighthawk, Luthor, and Knoedel.
The Mod info is on Post #3, there is a file there too to make sure all is well. That sav file is from a current game I'm playing with Oliver so I do not want to corrupt what I have. So just start with the main mod and patch "o"

FFH2

if there is anyone else you'd like to join please message them

I will choose a "Good" Race

I think I'll go random, or if Nighthawk picks the Ljosolfar (good elves) I'll choose the Svartalvar (evil elves). :p

I'm unsure if I want the "Wildlife" Doubled at spawn???

Well, there's lots of stuff you can do with captured animals, so I'd be in favor of it. In fact I'm gonna go through all options when I have time and state what I think we should have enabled.

Game speed affects many areas of the game actually, including culture thresholds, build costs and tech costs.

lol Espionage on?

There is no espionage in FFH.

Haha nice!

Indeed, the random events in FFH are very varied and fun, though some are a little strange. I can remember one game as the Amurites of all people where some villagers of mine claimed to have found a witch and wanted to burn her. The Amurites being a people which have built their entire civilization around magic and wizards and such and your position in their social hierarchy depending on your arcane skills I naturally found this hilarious. I couldn't imagine a civ where that event would make less sense, except maybe for the ones purely consisting of angels or demons or ghosts or somesuch.

Would anyone be interested in playing 2 leaders?

Example, must choose a Race that has 2 leaders

I don't think that would be very fair, unless everyone gets 2 leaders, and even then there are some civs with only one leader.

Also race in FFH is an actual gameplay term and shouldn't be used synonymously with civilization. For example there are two elves (race) civs, one with one evil leader and the other with two neutral and one good leaders. Obviously one couldn't in good conscience leave the control of both of these two civs to the same player unless we completely ignore lore, since the division of the elves is the result of a millennia spanning civil war.
