Fall with Fleme

Excellent, and an extra merit badge for doing the quest checkup thing for me as well. I'll update tomorrow. Perhaps the hell terrain didn't stick, hm.

No matter, wasn't a major thing!

Edit: What I meant to say was that I'd update if there was a save attached. Oops!

Edit 2: Update coming tomorrow instead. Tried doing it today and it was miserable - hoping I'm on my game tomorrow.

What'u talkin 'bout Fleme. Give my update another look. ;)

Apologies for still not updating. While I do have the updates ready, I did them at work and forgot to e-mail them to myself. So, there they are, sitting in my office laptop while I have the save here. Hopefully the two will meet up tomorrow and we can get the ball rolling. Sorry again.

CALM DOWN FLEME. We won. We got Osama.

I'll be working on that FF list of changes starting in a week or so after school ends. There are a number of subtle changes I've missed, but with everyone's input (and the wiki) we should get an idea of how different this modmod is to FfH. I'll reiterate the importance of picking up a GE for corp, but now that I think about it it may be too broken.

How broken? Imagine an only slightly (slightly) nerfed mining Inc. That costs no maintenance.

EDIT: Curious, Fleme... does the destruction of Rune cities still mean an augmentation of N'zesh's powers?

The Mirror of Heaven

Spoiler :
The fires have ceased, and the Mirror rests on a barren plateau. There are inscriptions in the three dominant languages of old depicting the struggles of the last alliance of the good peoples of Erebus and how the Mirror holds within it all the mastery those peoples had. Crafted from the finest gold and gems from the ancient Khazad mines of Gal-Dur, etched with powerful Elven enchantments to both protect the Mirror and give it a will of its own and last, but certainly not least, imbued with the blessings of the archpriests of both Lugus and Junil, the gods of men.

The enchantments of the mirror repel evil itself, which alone makes it a powerful artefact. The mirror rests on a sphere and can be turned to face targets all across what used to be the desert (10 range, cannot target over mountains)

Q: Pray to Lugus for his favor (in game terms this is doing nothing but visiting the mirror and taking a screenshot), however in story terms it might be) and permission to use the mirror.

R: Use the mirror, it can be used to destroy/damage evil targets/structures/map features within range.

The Thunderblade Crest

Spoiler :
My father, avenged. Aye, this be the fabled crest of the Thunderblades and I must return it to our an-cestral home. You have been a good friend and an ally in need and I shall forever be in your debt. In fact, upon my return back to the halls of Dungarde, I shall make a point to dispatch a crew of our finest smiths to aid you in whatever way they can.

Take care, my friends!

Game terms: Maros has now departed (he left the Timor Mask behind to Fizziks, who has began con-structing Mecha-Fizziks) and is no longer in play.

R: Kewakea has gained 10+ experience and new promotions for assisting. He's less than 14 exp from becoming a Shaman.

Sacrifices to Agruonn:
Spoiler :

Yes… These creatures will do just fine and the foul taint on them shall please the master. Finally, I am ready to avenge the Tlacotl and send forth my blades to punish the ones who brought with them our downfall.

N’zesh is now empowered. (Meaning he'll retain those promos he now has and will be eligible for more sweet stuff) Armageddon counter has risen because of the sacrifices.

Followup:

Now, let us take care of that wicked mountain once and for all. The master will suck that pile of rubble to the void and laugh at the face of Kalshekk. Let me visit that mountain and his will be done.

Q: N'zesh is to visit mount Kalshekk (screenshot) after which he is free to do whatever tasks you choose for the remainder of the set.

Yo-ho, yo-ho, a Pirate's life for me!

Spoiler :
Ah! Can ye feel that? Sweat on yer brow and the wind on yer back! If only I had me swag and me rum, aye, that'd be the life. And ye know what, mate? We'll be getting just that, reclaim me old home of Kingsport of them upstarts that must be runnin' it by now.

For completing the quest, there is now a Tavern in Levantera, but the populace of the city have also began complaining about the strong pirate presence, which is shown as Unhealthy Discontent (1 :(, -1 :gold:, -2 :culture: per turn, -10% production, +5 crime rate. Additionally, there are 2 Boarding parties at your disposal for future pirate-related quests.

Q: Capture the pirate city of Kingsport

R: Swag! ARRR!!

Tancred’s Folly

Spoiler :
The taint of the doombringer weighs heavy on Brother Tancred and the cursed essence of the dragon begins to work it’s foul way to the mind of the cleric as soon as picks the bones and scales up from the body of the dragon.

Subtly, the whispers of wealth and immeasurable power taint the mind of the once noble cleric and after his visit to Fizziks, his last words were “The master’s children are here. They call to me and I shall offer my life for them to use as they please.”

Game terms: Brother Tancred has ventured to the east towards the Alturan Digsite where the demonic city of Dis once stood. It is reasonable to believe that the offspring of the Bartha-Amlug would be nest-ing there.

Q: Find more about the risen Dragon and rally remaining heroes to counter it's minions.

+Q: Consider dispatching Harmatt to the Stargazer to find out more.

Rise of the Veil

Spoiler :
There are reports around the world that evil civilizations have began worshipping the Veil again. It would seem that tampering with the remains of the doombringer has sent out ripples through the nether which have been felt by the dark practitioners of this world. This is a troubling turn of events and not only we have to contend with the newly risen dragon but we also have to be on guard with the followers of the Veil.

I will not update any further since this is something of a pivotal moment in the grand story, but you'll have to find out more before the actual story unfolds. The next update will see a more detailed update based on your progress. Good luck; It will be getting harder from now on.

Additionally, I could not locate the Empty Bier anywhere so I just assumed it to be gone. If you find it, point it out and I'll take care of it the next update.

AntiTwelve just played,
uberfish up
Brian on deck.

If I forgot something of grave importance, let me know and I'll fix it. Again, apologies for the huge delays we've been having.

Hah, called it about the dragon remains being cursed

As the person on deck, I'll probably not be able to play this in time (I'm effectively OOP until Sunday evening). SO please skip me if my turn comes up before Saturday.

Keep in mind, that I will be out in t minus 9 days. If someone has the interest or knows someone who would have the interest to act as DM during my vacation, speak up. Otherwise, you have the options to finish the game as a regular FF SG or alternatively let it die for a month.

Ok I see what Jarrema was saying about the game being too big. We have units scattered all over apparently totally at random and it's confusing. I literally have no idea what half of them are meant to be doing. Half our units are moved and half not. We are also paying 28 in maintenance and 10 in supply for no good reason. Hilariously despite this, Churada doesn't have a garrison.

There's an obnoxious necrototem next to Fizziks for no apparent reason, making it hard to move stuff around. I decide to send Foxford Valley Watch to destroy it since it has Courage.

- Send n'zesh on his journey to Kalshekk
- Thane of Kilmorph to capital
- Churada is building a monument, cancel it
- Churada, Bayamo, Leventera, and the new city I hope to found this set should get settled bears since we have too many.
- Tancred has turned into a Profane and Gilin-Amlug the dragon has appeared in a new barbarian city at the former Alturan dig site.
- I fired the wolf rider werewolf we had, it's useless.

t258

Wallace the werebear gets killed on computer turn by Larry the hill giant appearing out of nowhere

We had a bunch of low strength units stacked with him so I try to suicide our scorpion clan wolfrider into the giant. It withdraws doing... no damage. Disgusted I disband him. Gryndane has to deal with the problem as usual.

I remember that we're not allowed to spread ROK, I guess we can keep that thane of kilmorph to culture bomb a new city

One of our random griffons explores a giant steading and finds a great commander. Beautiful, now it will take forever to get him home.

We have a great bard with no other obvious use at the moment and a ton of infrastructure that needs to be built, so - golden age it is. Switch to religion for the happiness boost and military state for the free units which will save us some cash. Also undercouncil.

N'zesh reaches mount kalshekk and then teleports home. I overwrote that screenshot by accident.

t259

Great library done in Telynohn

A bunch of fire elementals show up at Brubu and attack!

fwf10.jpg

Kardel destroys one and entangles the other two.

t260

The dragon sacks a Malakim city. Lol. He's hurt but standing on a peak so we can't attack him unfortunately.

fwf11.jpg

A Chislev spirit healer shows up and kills one of the fire elementals. Kardel kills the other with help from a suicide Djinn. He gets Twincast.

Leviathan spawns. Hopefully he won't attack our pirate ship which has a spider and 2 boarding parties on the way to the western islands.

Our griffon with the commander kills 5 frostlings. Not sure the griffon really needs a commander to tell it to fight but whatever.

t261

Dragon decides to sit in Lodente. Maybe I could go around and attack it while it rampages through Malakim lands. I'll take the full hero crew.

Foxford Valley watch destroys the necrototem and heads back to its station at Foxford Valley. It gains the status of a Commando.

t262

Cualli declare war on us, lol. A javelin thrower of theirs gets owned outside Brubu.

Leviathan is chasing our pirate ship! Uh oh. Damnit I lost the screenshot of this one too

Carnival done in Telynohn and a lion and tiger settle in, start Prepare Expedition

Unfortunately our griffon and great commander in the northeast wilderness were killed by a Named Satyr. Easy come, easy go.

t263

Levantera starts a lighthouse.

A shore party spots... another dragon on one of the islands.

fwf13.jpg

I think I spotted a pirate port somewhere up north, that's probably Kingsport so that's where we're going.

t264

Military strategy is in, we get the commander who builds a command post in the capital. Decide to pick up currency.

Our heroes follow the rampaging dragon, we're now on the Malakim road network in case a target of opportunity should arise

fwf14.jpg

t265

Been wanting to do this for a while. Founded New Foxford where the castle was. Managed to overwrite or otherwise not keep the screenshot (seems to be a running them here.) The thane of kilmorph does the mini culture bomb thing.

Yep, the pirate port belongs to Kingsport. 6 warriors there. Drop the units off and get back to running from Leviathan.

fwf15.jpg

Tried to attack the dragon, Messy does the usual dive bomb but the summoned djinn didn't do any damage. Odds were about 80% for Kardel and Gryndane so I left it another turn

t266

Our pirate ship Laughing Scourge is attacked by two barbarian galleys and sunk while fleeing from Leviathan :( However 3 defenders in Kingsport are killed by our pirates and spider.

N'zesh catches up with the rest of the party, casts Blur, and summons a mistform

Messy dive bombs the dragon, a djinn suicides (doing no damage again) and the mistform is too scared to attack

fwf17.jpg

With 95% odds, an extra life and the other heroes ready to finish the job if he dies, Gryndane attacks the dragon!

fwf18.jpg

The dragon left an item (Hauberk of Abjuration) which grants magic immunity. Bit of a double edged sword that.

t267

One of our high level griffons back home kills an ogre trying to sneak up on Kaver. Ack, a lot of barbarian warriors suddenly shows up out of nowhere near kingsport, we kill several but a boarding party dies.

t268

Harmatt asks the stargazer WTH is up with Tancred. Then he decides to head to the mirror, maybe he can use it as a laser to shoot Tancred. Pew pew!

fwf16.jpg

t269

Malakim take their city that was sacked by the dragon back. The dragon flew over the mountains to taek it, so barbarians couldn't get any better defence there than a Skeleton. It was in a really awkward location so I didn't consider conquering and keeping it for ourselves to be a good option.

t270

Gryndane brings the dragon scales back to Fizziks. Our intrepid spider and pirate are being chased around the island by a couple of barbarian units, seems there are actually two cities there.

Harmatt reaches the mirror and prays the following:

"Do I get to shoot Tancred? Please?"

Our other weregriffin in the north went rogue, killed one of our own animals then got itself killed, so the only really distant units we have out now are the two on Kingsport island and one south of the Cualli. On the bright side this means that we've gone from paying 28+10 military expenditure at the start of my turnset to 2+1 :)

t271

Another new city founded at Corn/Clams west of Bayamo. I'll hand over now so Fleme can do updates and the next player can figure out what to do about Tancred and his new AV friends who are still hanging out in Barthran.

Apologies for failing the pirate quest, ran into way more resistance than expected and Leviathan chasing our boat around really didn't help at all. We can either build another boat or send the two high level griffins we have near Kaver to help. (Or maybe Kardel or N'zesh.)

Summary:

- Wallace died but that's not my fault, he didn't even have any movement points when I got the turn
- Military expenditure problem sorted out (admittedly this was partially because a bunch of stuff got killed and I settled as many weak bears in cities as possible)
- We slew the dragon while it was rampaging through Malakim lands, but Tancred is still rogue
- Pirate expedition was a disaster unfortunately and will need reinforcements.
- 2 new cities and a bunch of useful buildings constructed

Edit: As it turns out, I will have to call my personal hiatus starting now. So many preparations for our trip piled up and it turns out the procrastinator can't procrastinate no more. I will leave it to you to decide what to do with the game.

Well personally I think as Uberfish has said any non-variant game where we're given challenging missions is going to basically be a cake walk. So I'd agree with him in shelving the game for a month and coming back when Fleme is ready.
But if the team wants to go the other way then I'll play on.

How long will you be out, Fleme? I'm fine with shelving this for a month. Some of us here are in the thick of the current SGOTM, so a bit of a break would be nice.

I'm returning on the 9th of June. We're having a big trip with my gf around the US to celebrate both our graduations starting on the 15th. So much stuff to do all of a sudden!

Should have come to Ireland instead!

But seriously, enjoy yourselves and as the saying goes "If you can't be good, be careful".

I did visit Ireland like 5 years back and it was lovely. I'm a sucker for deep accents and I could honestly just sit at a pub and listen to you Irishmen talk because it's so enjoyable to just listen and talk with that amazing accent! Ahh! But then again I also visited the States for an entire summer back in 2008 and really enjoyed it and thought that it'd be a good place to spend our graduation holiday.

Finals finished... so now updates?

Sorry about the go-to orders. It's been awhile since my proper SG days, so I'm trying to end that little habit. The maintenance comes from the animals we're bringing home, usually not a folly long-term. Everything else done during the turn set looks to have gone exceedingly well, especially with that dragon! I'd only wish we could've discussed the use of that GA before you popped a golden age... bit of a waste with so little cities producing much of anything and only one civic change.

I'm down with waiting. Going at the game now without DM interference may prove a bit much for you when you return. So enjoy yourself, Fleme. Be careful in the states, it's fighting season. Any places of interest you're looking to visit?

My suggestions: Chicago. Another suggestion: Chicago Pizzeria Uno
