Fantasy Units Preview Thread II

Isn't the bow a bit large? It's probably quite hard to use a longbow on horseback.
And can the bow be fatter? It may be a bit thin and hard to see.
Otherwise it's cool, I can't find anything more to be rude about. ;)

:goodjob:

If you turn off any worker-action, "Terraform" will become unaccessible. EIther all or nothing :( It's a well known case, not a bug, but stupid limitation. I assure you I wanted that too, but ended up with forbidding tree-cutting completly, because elves would cut down all trees around them

Thank you for the heads up. I have only been collecting graphics and writing out civ lists and city lists. I haven't tried testing that. That is a stupid limitation. If thats the case then I'll have to go back to the drawing board on my worker ideas.

here is the rider with smaller bow, though it's hard to make it thicker, since these two things relate to each other. also, I removed the helmet (let high elves have helmets).

EDIT: should I leave civ-colors as is, or make the blanket (currently green) civ-colored too?

I've thought about that, but hasn't come to a clear position on it. Most elves will have green as civ colour, in any case. :)
It would maybe be good to have more civ colours, but I don't really know where. You could have some "horse-thingies" civ coloured, but then you'd have to add those, which you didn't. What about the tips of the bow?

Nice unit. I think the blanket should be civ spesific... itll show the best.. also think about changin his hair color to brown sp that u avtually can see a difference between the face and hair..

ahh.. I see your problem.. :)

Excellent Riders... One suggestion though... Maybe bend their legs a bit at the knee. Just bring the thigh forward a bit and bend the shin back to make it a little more realistic (so it doesn't look like they're standing with a horse between their legs but are actually sitting on it). Other than that they look great (love that horse texture :) ) I'd suggest the blanket be civ-colored and then make the Wood Elves green.

For the horse archer I used GW figures as reference, when they had totally straight legs and no stirrups. Anyway it's too late for that one, since it's already completed :) I'll try to move the irons up and bend the legs in HE Cavalry.
thx for comments.
ps. horse textures, as usual, are from renderosity freestuff ;)

most likely a final preview (I also removed the horse headpiece, since it looked strange with this and no body armor).

Cold One Knight preview. I'm not sure if I'll be able to animate it.

Nice. I mean that for both the elf cavalry and the cold one.

This time it's not my creation at all. My sister found a demo of some old game (geneforge) on magazine cd, that has all units in storyboards compatible with FLICster... yes it means they don't even need to be "converted"... just put into flicster with slight palette change. the only interesting units I found was sort of giant or troll, a scorpion, baby dragon and some fantasy mutant creatures. apart from not having a shadow, they have all civ3 unit features, though as you can see they don't have civ3 quality. if you think I should post them (at least the giant and scorpion) let me know.

Scorpion looks good... The Giant seems to have some scaling issues in that preview, looks like he's moving closer and farther during the run. (not your fault obviously :) )

Go ahead and post them in a pack, then people can deside with themselves if they want to use them:)
