Don't teach your Grandma to suck eggs!

I will play my turn tonight, shadow you will have the game by late evening.

It certainly is going fast. Touch wood.

I have noticed that our game setup is similar to the current Game of the Month. It is small instead of medium map and 7 instead of 6 civs. Both Prince level. It occurs to me that it might be possible, sometime, to do a GotM as a succession game. Or is that just crazy.

I actually suggested that a few months ago (Feb I think) that we have teams for the GOTM. The teams would conduct a succession game. The teams would consist of 5 firends, like us. We would have to play quickly, like we are, and we submit the game together against other succession teams.

I still think it's a great idea. For the people that have trouble finishing they could join a team. I mean...everyone can play 10 - 15 turns of Civ 1 night in a week, right???

Hmm Well I have one question to ask the other players of this succession game and that is:

When we have so much space why do you build cities so that the city radius overlap other cities??? They can't grow to their full potential that way, and we really have a lot of space to expand on!!!

------------------
We are species 8472 - assimilations attempts are futile - the weak shall perish

No wait we are species 5618 and we got beer...... don't harm us!!!!!!

1100BC - 700BC
The Manger d'ail family dynasty

1100BC-1000BC
The king consults the Romans to exchange knowledge but their petty knowledge can teach us nothing

The king feels that the city of Karakoraum should be renamed in order to forget its mongol roots. From now on all citizens will call the city Bordeaux

Our gallant horseymen to the north discover the Roman city of St Petersburg.

1000BC-900BC (The busy years)
We discover the secret of mysticism and cannot research philosophy until we have the secrets of literacy in the mean time our thinkers turn their thoughts to trade.

The king decides that more cities need to be founded as time begins to march on. The city of Besancon is founded in the middle of our territory.

The thinkers of the city of WOAH are particularly gifted and the king decides that with the special resources around WOAH is should become a city of super science. To celebrate this fact the king rush buys the settler production there and starts work on the colossus.

Lyons produces a settler, the king deems the road north too far for this settler to found a new city so the settler goes to work the fields around the southern cities. Production in Lyon is switched to marketplace.

N Passage builds warriors production is changed to settlers to continue the expansion north

A unit of our horseymen opens up a hut to find a raging horde of one barbarian horseyman. The barbarian scum is wiped out.

A unit of our archermen disovers a friendly unit of chariots to aid our exploration.

900BC-800BC (The quiet years)
The current king makes a blunder leaving a horsey man in the vicinity of Moscow for too long, the unit is withdrawn to a safe distance.

Our wise men discover the secret of trade and decide to pursue writing which we will need for republic, literacy, philosophy and gives us the added bonus of diplomats.

Our brave archer units stumble across a friendly tribe that teach us the secret of map making. The king thinks that this could be handy as on a clear day new lands can be seen to the south.

800BC-700BC (expansion years)
The furthest south city of Tours build a settler which will work on the fields of tours until Tours has built a trireme to take settlers across the ocean to the south.

The city of "nuke the whales" builds a settler.

Two new cities Rouen and Grenoble are founded, one is in the far north and will need a supply line soon.

Our explorers find another Russian city called Minsk.

The last heir to the Manger D'ail dynasty dies in a freak pole vaulting accident. A new king must be found.................

------------------------------------------
The game has been sent to Shadowdale. For some reason cheat mode was enabled when I opened the game NOBODY USE IT.

The Russians may have quite a few cities in the north so we need to get up there quick and get all the land. Feel free to change the trireme if you like but I thought it may give us another option if we run out of space. Our power is supreme and our reputation spotless, hurrah.

You can't expect everyone to have such high ability as you shadow (except me of course)

humm.. that's strange.. when i got teh game the cheat editor wasn't on

and i just loaded the game and it wasn't on..

sometimes if your working on a sinario.. with the cheat on.. and you shut it off it will still be on next time you load your next map.. or something like that..

Well not much has happened - five new cities have been build and after the Russians attacked us, we had a small war with them that ended after their capital fell!!!

We did get some spoils of war: The Wheel and Iron working, and our own scientists have just begun on philosophy!!!

All is well and we continue to expand......

All though I must say that I was a bit confused when I got the game and it was saved in 700BC because that didn't seem quite right to me - I haven't checked it but I only played 14 turns so we are now in 350 BC!!

The game is on it's way to CornMaster!!

Are you saying that someone has played more than fifteen turns? I don't think that it was me because I counted quite carefully.

It may have been me that played too many turns .
I play so fast some times I lose count.

But I'm going to do a play by play here in the forum.

Pre-Turn
~~~~~~~~~
Settlers!!! We don't need that many stinking settlers!!!
Ahhh...that's better.
j/k
Turn 1
~~~~~~~
Nothing to note here

Turn 2
~~~~~~~
Moblizing for war to wipe out the Russians. I demanded tribute....recieved 25 gold.
Turn 3
~~~~~~~
Barbs (I think) attacked Russians from behind lines. Got Philo, and then took Monothesiem. (Republic was not on the list.) Researching Mathamatics next.

Turn 4
~~~~~~~
Nothing to note UNTIL a message appeared telling me that the Russians were destroyed by the Spanish!!!!! A new enemy.
Turn 5
~~~~~~~
Who the hell builds cities and then settlers? Then you have to wait several turns to get a real unit there. Anyone can come and take the city!!!! AGGGGRRR!!!!! Anyway.....

Turn 6
~~~~~~~
Conquered, now Spanish controled, Keiv and got Warrior Code from the wreckage.
Turn 7
~~~~~~~
Took out a few week Spanish units. Landed settler on another island to colonize.

Turn 8
~~~~~~~
Built city "Island Outpost" Took out another Spanish unit. Advancing on what I think is Spanish controlled land.
Turn 9
~~~~~~~
Nothing to note. Reached 2,000,000 poplation.

Turn 10
~~~~~~~
Found Spanish Mainland. Going to attack in the following turns with dual Crusaders.
Turn 11
~~~~~~~
Lost a horseman at the hands of the evil Spanish!!! Attacked Toledo with a Crusader. Killed a Phalanx. A unit then attacked the Crusader and died in a futile attempt.

Turn 12
~~~~~~~
Conquered Toledo. Made a peace treaty with Spanish.
Turn 13
~~~~~~~
Built city "Copperfish" near Copper and Fish. Although it could be Iron, I guess.....anyway.

Turn 14
~~~~~~~
Settlers have been improving the land through out my turns. Roads and irrigation. It's 1AD now so I'm going to stop (and I think I may have skipped a turn again ). I have a diplomat in a trieme near the south. I was going to do some exploring once I got a Crusader. Again I got another tech choice but Republic still wasn't there. So I'm researching construction. Realized that I hadn't moved all my units. Found Spanish capital of Madrid. Size 2.
Anyway.......Sending the game to Belisarius. This is going VERY FAST!!!!
Who was it said "Ask me for anything but time." I can't pin down the exact quote but basically I did it to gain an immediate advantage to exploit at the cost of a possible future restriction. Like a lot of things a good idea if it works a bad idea if it doesn't.
Lets keep this pace up folks. And please come on let's stop *****ing about the way that the others play the game, we are all different standards and play the game in different styles. I thought the whole point of this exercise was to learn new things about the game and play games that were created from a range of different styles and abilities rather than our own. When you get the game and you don't like something then just change it if you can.
EDIT:
I'm not *****ing here but I'm just wondering what the city called WOAH means?
It might also be a good idea to attach the save game to your post when you have finished your turn because I can't wait for my go and I want a sneak peek on what is going on.
LOL
Nuke the Whales
Copperfish.
You have to love the names after the resources. I usually call 4 resources "Sweet Spot" and several trade specials "Trade City".
Anyway...
I have completed my turns so here is my history.
1AD Start with 24 cities, 83 citizens, 14 Settlers, 9 Warriors, 15 Phalanx, 1 Archer, 1 Horsemen, 1 Chariot, 3 Crusaders, 1 Trireme and 1 Diplomat.
Also 20 sciences and 1067 gold. Our power is Supreme and reputation Questionable. The Spanish are Uncooperative and peacefull. Tax 30%, Lux 0% and Science 70% (12 turns per discovery). Researching Construction. We have the Pyramids wonder.
We have 6 cities in disorder. Used 7 Elvises to calm.
Decided to expand the economy rather than go to war so changed City of N Passage from Lighhouse to Mike's Chapel. Changed most military production to caravans. Some to Settlers. Continue building a few market places and Libraries and keep on with the Colossus wonder.
10AD Rush build several caravans. Force Spanish to withdraw troops near Toledo.
20AD Still need 5 Elvises to maintain order in 4 cities despite building some settlers. Now have 5 caravans on way to build Mike's Chapel. Settlers building roads and irrigating.
50AD First 2 Caravans arrive to help build Mike's Chapel. A further six on way. Now using 7 Elvises.
60AD One more caravan arrives for Mike's Chapel.
70AD Population now 3 million. Crusader spots Spanish city of Seville (5)
80AD Three more caravans arrive and Mike's Chapel is complete. Found city of Naples in the north-west.
90AD Build city of Issus in the north-east to link with Toledo. Trireme finds new land to the east.
100AD Construction. Research The Republic. Colossus completed. Start on Library. Diplomat on Trireme bribes barbarian horsemen for 41 gold. Send second Trireme with Settler and Crusader east from Paris. Crusader spots Spanish city of Cordoba (2).
110AD Barbarian Legions land near Moscow.
120AD Barbarian leader captured for 120 gold. Demand tribute from Spanish and gain 125 more gold.
130AD Our first casualty is a Diplomat killed by Barbarians on the eastern land.
130AD Find Persian city of Susa (3). Receive 125 gold in tribute. They have no science to trade. I did not accept peace to keep our options open so we are neutral, cease fire.
140AD Discover Persian city of Perseopolis (5). Lose second unit a Crusader to Barbarians. The Diplomat was bad luck but I am afraid I was a bit careless with the Crusader.
150AD End turn with 26 cities and 124 citizens. We have 18 Settlers, 10 warriors, 22 Phalanx, 1 Archer, 1 Legion, 2 Horsemen, 1 Chariot, 7 Crusaders, 7 Trireme, 3 Diplomat and 5 Caravan.
We have 21 Science and 751 gold. Our power is Supreme and reputation Questionable. Spain is peaceable and Persia cease fire. Both are uncooperative. No change in standard tax rates. Science discoveries every 10 turns. We are half way to The Republic and we have the Pyramids, Mike's Chapel and Colossus.
I have a couple of caravans sitting in Orleans ready for wonder building. I have left it open as we could complete the Lighthouse to speed up our Triremes or change it to, for example, the Great Wall so we could plant offensive base cities in the middle off enemy territory. I have sent the game on to you Fishheads so its your decision. Cheers.
