Favorate Movie?

The Usual Suspects
Boondock Saints
Harold and Kumar go to White Castle
Lord of the Rings Triology
Star Wars triology
Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Life of Brian (holy grail is the best comedy of all time)

Pi, Donnie Darko, 12 Monkeys, American Beauty, to name a few. Basically I prefer dramas, but not just any drama. I like movies that have a meaning, especially a non-traditional meaning or from a non-traditional view. Hollywood sucks.

That one movie where that tough guy goes around and kills people and blows up stuff.

Yeah, that movie was awesome, especially those badass quips and the parts when stuff blew up. The love scene with that chick he meets along the way wasn't bad either.

Yeah, that was a goooood movie.

Crimson Tide
O' Brother Where Art Thou!
One Flew Over the ****oo's Nest
Blow
Elf

did you just describe every single movie ever made in hollywood?

Anything with Paul Newman or Alec Guinness in it.

Therefore, The Hustler and Bridge on the River Kwai are two of my favourite films.

No, it's just the movie that guys watch.

I don't like Hollywood's other movie, it's that one movie where there's this chick and this guy abuses her, and then with a little help from her friends she ends up confronting the guy. Then the chick is smug because she took the high road and was victorious.

I don't like that movie, it makes women hate men.

I have no all-time favourite movie. Instead, I categorized some of the movies I like by genre:

Horror Jaws
War Battle of the Bulge, The Bridge on the River Kwai, Saving Private Ryan, Patton
Sci-fi/Fantasy Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Comedy Spaceballs, Rat Race, Shrek, Caddyshack
Documentary Bowling for Columbine
Drama 12 Angry Men, Gladiator
Adventure Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark

I like most movies with Ford in them (alot).

Star Wars (Fantasy/ a little Sci-Fi)
Indiana Jones (Adventure)
(Original) The Shining (Horror) (Yes, I know Ford isn't in it)

Please, don't make me chose which Indy and SW films I like best. They are all great.

There is one of these every month, and my answer never changes.

Apocolypse Now - and it is a war movie.

Honourable mentions:
Shawshank Redemption
The Cider House Rules
Forrest Gump

Deep impact, armageddon, the day after (the nukewar movie), the day after tomorrow (haven't seen it yet), 2001: A space odyssy, 2010: The year we make contact.

I prefer disaster movies, "god" movies (such as Bruce Almighty), and comedies from National Lampoon featuring chevy chase, and similar types of comedies.

I also prefer "outer space" movies, like 2001 and 2010.

I hate romance movies, because they're so sappy and unrealistic.
Horror movies are evil, so I also hate those.

1) Life of Brian (opened my eyes on religion)
2) The Big Lebowski
3) Fight Club (every one has a rebel inside)
4) Memento (Great idea, great script)
5) The good, the bad and the ugly (best western, imo)
6) 12 Monkeys (weird enough to be good)
7) Pulp fiction (for the offensive language)
8) Stalingrad (therapy for war fanatics)
9) Pesci in mafia movies (like it when he starts kicking some butts)
10) Sic-Fi and Fantasy "B-movies" (LotR, Star Wars,...

I'd thought anyone with your astronomical interests would have hated Armageddon ...

Speaking of hate, someone mentioned The Boondock Saints - that one seems to be one of those hate-it-or-love-it movies. Personally, I'm a staunch hater.

Among my favourites:

A Clockwork Orange
Lost Highway
Donnie Darko
Apocalypse Now
The Shining
Mulholland Drive
The Thin Red Line

Actually, I prefer Deep Impact over Armegeddon. So you're kinda right. Who doesn't like tsunamies swamping new york?

EDIT: The only parts of Armegeddon I actually hate are the sappy love scenes. :vomit:

More Disaster Movies I like:
Volcano
That other volcano movie starring Pierce Brosnan... (can't remember the name for now...)
The Core (some don't like this movie, but fortunately, one man's trash is another's treasure :D )

Star Wars and Alien-series.

Genre-wise I generally prefer comedies, very much depending on my mood though.

awww man, this is hard

Longest Day/Saving Private Ryan/Platoon (War)
Monty Python-Holy Grail/Aeroplane (Comedy)
Bourne Identity/Die Hard/Reservoir Dogs/Aliens/Usual Suspects/Spiderman 2 (erm.... everything else)

If I REALLY had to pick I'd probably go for........... Usual Suspects. but then again, that might change tomorrow :D
