Favorite Biome

It seems like some alien types are more abundance on the different biomes. Still prefer the look on arid zones.

It is interesting to see how all three biomes are almost equally popular. Talk about a useful and well done feature.

Seeing as how the biomes contain the same elements, it would be cool if you could reload the map in a separate biome at the click of a button.

Also, it would be cool to have a single map where each continent featured a different biome, rather than the entire map just being one single biome.

Otherwise, I like ARID because of Dune.

Fungal but yes, I have failed to discriminate miasma. That is a problem with Fungal. Perhaps we should try Arid or Lush in our weekly MP game.

Overall, excellent feature indeed!

Well, I originally started with Lush because I didn't even see the advanced options, it made the transition from CiV 5 pretty smooth, visually. But I soon discovered that I like Fungal the most, it looks just different and alien. Having the "new" planet look exactly like Earth was a little bit boring.

Although, I think they should give Fungal more colors, only blue-ish is wasting the potential.

I wish they would have an ICE biome, sorta like HOTH.

Also, I hate how the current ice in the game is 3D rendered instead of drawn. It looks so cheap (and like it's floating!) compared to the tundra terrain around it.

I like lush most gameplay wise as it's way easier to differentiate tile types (and therefore their benefits) I guess I'm just too used to the tiles looking like that in Civ 5.

Fungal has by far the best soundtrack though.

I actually prefer the fungal environment, but mostly because I adore the music that is attached to this particular biome. Each of the biomes have a different musical theme, and I'm fairly obsessed with the cello (I believe) in the fungal theme song. The visual aesthetics of the fungal world are also interesting, and to me, the drabness of the environment adds to its alien nature.

I have started 5 maps since getting BE, and I have only seen lush. I guess I need to check my settings, or just horrible RNG luck!

P.S. sorry for the thread necro, but I did a search to make sure that multiple biomes were a thing haha

I initially preferred Lush, but after getting more familiar with the game and playing some more on Fungal, I now play on it all the time -- I love Fungal! I also have little trouble distinguishing the terrains and I can even spot marsh on it, haha.

Besides the cool, unique graphics; the green aliens also contrast nicely against it and the combination of green/purple further reinforces that alien world feeling to me. Plus, its music is very nice, as mentioned above.

Arid is still my least favorite.

On topic, I played 3 complete games so far and I'm sure I've been on arid settings.
But my current game seems very snowy, what dome is it? Can you check it in game?

The book Hammerfall by author C.J. Cherryh. A bit obscure, but it's a sci-fi novel that prominently features caravans crossing deserts.

Yep my settings defaulted to Lush. Ugh, wish it defaults to Random! So I started a new Arid biome, then will try Fungal for the next one. I am loving the Arid look so far!

By far. It's sometimes almost too good, distracting me from the game by being all dramatic.
