In English especially it seems there's a lot of funny or odd euphemisms for things. So what's your's (fairly clean), mine has to be, "Circling over Shannon", for drunk. In reference to the Russian leader (I cant remember if it was Yeltsin or possibly gorby) was very drunk while flying an airplane so instead of landing he just kept on circling over Shannon, Ireland. (or thats the story my friend told me)
another was in an academic team question that went along the lines of "the hip youngsters dropping an e-tap", now that one just makes me want to punch myself in the crotch.

I used to watch BBc a lot a couple of years ago. Every saturday night: Match of the Day.

It seems typically British! After the most stupid action a commentator sais: Good effort.

''Countries in development'' referring to third world countries.

good personality - bad looks

great effort or "it's the effort that counts" - poor achievement

Used to? Why on earth would anybody give up on the BBC?

I am Dutch..... Why should I watch BBC? I used to watch MOTD each saturday night. But I don't watch any footbal program I can anymore. The BBC also has stopped broadcastign testmatch cricket.

I do watch movies every once in a while on BBC.
