Fairly new to Civ4 and this forum. Just wondering which mods people like. I am currently playing Legends of Revolutions and really enjoying it. Love the rebellions and the new civs rising. It is the only mod I've tried, so what is your favorite, stable mod for BTS? Please tell why you like it.

I've poked around with a few modpacks over the years. Some of them are quite fun, but generally most tax the system immensely. The ones I've liked are FFH, of course, and Pies Ancient Europe. LoR is quite good too but very tough on the specs - same for other very good expansion pack type mods like ROM and Quo Capita. You might want to check out Realism Invictus too. It's the fairly new BTS version of the well established "Total Realism" mod. Lot's a good stuff in there, but the delivered world map scenario is way more than my computer can bare.

I prefer standard gameplay though, so my favorite mods are the unaltered gameplay mods - BUG/BULL and the wonderful BAT mod.

In no particular order:

Fall From Heaven 2, and its successor mods Fall Further and Rise From Erebus

Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn (aka ROM-AND), a super-mod that includes many other mods within it (including Legends of Revolution), and you can turn the various mods on or off for each new game as you see fit.

Rhys and Fall of Civilization (aka RFC), and its successor mods RFC: Dawn of Civilization and RFC: Better, Westerner, Smarter. Looking forward to a complete and user-friendly version of RFC Synthesis, which looks like it is going to be absolutely epic :goodjob:

ah...yes, I shoulda mentioned RFC. Very nice mod. Interesting and different way of playing the game.

Well, coincidentally, my favourite mods are the ones people above mentioned. So I think you will enjoy them too.
And there is a typo in your title ;):mischief:

I like my own mod...

It doesn't change the standard BtS gameplay much. It's basically just bug fixes, AI improvements, and a lots of minor balance changes. But there are a few new features as well.

Karadoc, I have downloaded your mod and plan to check it out soon. I will try the others suggested also.

...and the wonderful BAT mod.
Goodness, those endorsement cheques must really be piling up by now. :p

Have you tried Better BAT AI yet? It's just standard BAT, but with a smarter AI. It's quite good actually (The AI part. Well, BAT is too, but I already plugged it. :D ), Fuyu and jdogg did a great job on the AI.

I've tinkered lately with Legends of Revolution and I mostly like it--almost all the changes are exactly what I would have wanted Civ to change, although I'm not a fan of the darker graphics. Makes it super-hard to tell the difference between grassland, plains, and forest. They're all just slightly different shades of dark green. If I could have the graphics of standard BtS and everything else be LoR, to me that'd be the 99% perfect game.

BUG makes the interface more accessible and aesthetically better. The better AI mod is also great.

You know, I'm still waiting on my last check, Lemon

I have not tried BAT AI yet. I use BAT a lot for forum games so I've not wanted to change the game mechanics. However, I may try it out for a personal game or two, which I rarely seem to play..there's always good forum games. I guess the question I have though is does BAT AI run standalone to regular BAT, i.e., are they separate installs so that I can have both.

It's uh... in the mail! Yeah, that's it. In the mail. :mischief:

They are separate installs and exist as separate, distinct mods. Remember the saves aren't cross compatible.

The installer will make a Better BAT AI folder in your mods folder, right alongside the normal BAT Mod folder. One stop shopping. :)

Didn't like the enhanced graphics either, I think it's Blue Marble it uses. You can reinstall and uncheck the improved graphics box when you install and LoR will have normal terrain graphics though, which is what I did to fix it.

Since LoR and RoM - A new Dawn have already been mentioned, going to throw Dune Wars out there. I've spent many hours playing Dune Wars, one of the best mods out there IMHO.

I love Jdog5000's Revolutions Mod stand-alone complex for BTS 3.17.

I'm not obsessed with the stat-number crunching so I don't like BUG mod and I'm not a big fan of siege warfare and air power so I'm not into DCM either. So no LoR or RevDCM for me as well.

I just like that Revolutions allows for complex gameplay without making the game even more complicated (it's mind-boggingly complicated as it is.) It's also a refreshing change of pace from the normal game as you're worried more about :) along with the other usuals of empire management and preventing all out rebellion as well as watching your neighbors and undermining their efforts to bury you.

Revolutions forced me to bump up my game from Warlord to Noble... not much in jump but you know... celebrate whatever victories I can get. :trophy3rd:

:goodjob: If you get around to playing it, I'd be interested to hear your feedback.

I mostly just work on the mod for my own amusement. ie. I make the mod so that I can play the mod. I think I'm on the right track with the changes that I make, but never the less, I would like to see a bit more input from people who have played the mod. :)

(by the way, I just uploaded a new version. So if you haven't tried it yet, then try to new version instead.)

Ok, I haven't try it yet. I'll download your new version and give her a try.

Back in vanilla days I used to enjoy Europa Europa--has there been an update for a BtS version of that one? Lost my vanilla disk...
