I was reading the old favorite movies thread that puglover dug up and brought back to life, and I saw a lot of people trying to figure out which Kubrick films they liked the best.

Personally they are just so hard to choose from. My favorites have got to be:

1. A Clockwork Orange
2. Dr. Strangelove
3. Full Metal Jacket
4. Spartacus
5. 2001: A Space Odyssey

Out of those, possibly FMJ is my favorite of all time. It's just so hard to say. I think Kubrick was a genious as a director and so talented. What do you guys think, and if you can choose, what is your favorite film of his?

A Clockwork Orange, Hands down.

Brilliant, head to toe.

But I unfortunatelly can't vote, some bug in my account...

Regards :).

Ive only seen five or so of the movies, so i voted "I cant deside".

Spartacus is great, and as I have only seen four of the films in question (2001, The Shining, Dr Strangelove, and Spartacus), I would have to vote for that. :goodjob:

It's definitely not The Shining, which was a dissapointment since I really liked the novel. Nor is it the soppy, cheesy A.I., even though it seems to me Spielberg ruined that one.

I really didn't get what 2001 was all about. But I saw it only once, 13 years or so ago, so I need to re-watch that one. :hmm:

I really can't choose between Paths of Glory, Spartacus or Full Metal Jacket. So I cast my vote undecided as well.

I've only seen Spartacus and Dr.Strangelove and I didn't find the last one funny at all or understood why the film is praised so much.I found it really boring.

So I say Spartacus.

I haven't seem to many of the films but I think I'll choose Full Metal Jacket

Paths of Glory.

A superb movie.

Full Metal Jacket, no doubt. We (and our platoon sergeants) quoted it all the time in basic training, great movie.

DR Strangelove. "Gentlemen, you can't fight here, this is the war room!"

Hahah, yeah that line was classic! My favorite part is where the President of the US and the head of the Soviet Union are talking on the phone - that conversation cracks me up.

I also voted Dr. Strangelove. Hilarious.

After that, I'd say [the first half of] Full Metal Jacket and all of 2001.

I haven't seen the other ones, except for The Shining, which doesn't even belong on a poll with as many fine movies that there are up there.

1. FMJ
2. A Clockwork Orange
3. Dr. Strangelove
4. 2001
5. Sparatacus

But really, it's hard to choose, they're all so..... different

"Do you realize that fluoridation is the most monstrously conceived and dangerous communist plot we have ever had to face?" (Gen. Jack D. Ripper)

or Buck saying:

"Mr. President, we must not allow a mine-shaft gap!"

:)

Shining, hands down for enjoyability. Few movies have I watched so many times! However, for pure, BEST movie, I'd have to change my vote to 2001.

I voted for The Shining because it improves on the novel in my opinion. My 2nd favorite Kubrick film is the vastly underrated Barry Lyndon.
