Favorite unit... Why?

Tanks are the best. They don't take to long to build with the average size city, they're good defensive units, and they're attack is also good. As for nukes, I usually don't even bother. They put pollution everywhere and you'll usually get nuked back.

spies fun to use and sexy !
engineers couldn't do without them

Hehe... Spies, sexy?
I must admit that it took rather long time until I realised they were females... Don't think they look so femalish (??)...

Have you ever used a spy before? Each time you try to do something cool it either says "your spy escaped after carrying out her mission and has been returned to [nearest city]" or "she blew it and got killed with nasty pointy things". I think that captured spies/dips should be held to ransom if the civ decides and you can pay large cash to get them back. Or maybe they get interrogated and give away a tech or some of your map. Ideas for Civ IV maybe? I assume that it is already too late for Civ III changes.

Why would you pay to get a spy back, they are so expendable. Anyway, if one of mine gets captured, I'd order it to "swallow cyanide capsule concealed in false tooth".

I usually don't do much heavy warfare until I get dragoons. Then none stand before my wrath. As the game progresses, armor takes over as my favorite war unit. Of course the engineer is the key to victory (a big civ is the best civ), I always have every city supporting at least one engineer, if not more.

Spies (not diplomats). They are the unit that I actively use the most.

Hehe... duke o' york... When I first got the game in... eh 94 I think... I knew almost none english. But now I do... So I've understand that the spies are females, even thou I still think they don't look as females. But for a long time I thought they were males. Hehe... it's quit funny by the way... That I kept playing the game even thou I didn't understand more then a few single words here and there. I remember one of the first games. The people in my city begun to say that they wanted a temple. So I told them to build a temple. But when it was ready and the "hmhmhm have built a temple" -notification came up I din't understand it. So I thought the temple wasn't ready yet. And didn't change. And when I finally had killed my enimies I had like 30 cities which all had been building temples for 300-400 years. Of course, most of them was in riot, but either that did I understand. Well, even thou I didn't understand much of the game then I kept playing it and I still do.

Favorite unit?
For looks, dragoons. They look as cool as Civ III's phalanxes.
For utility, diplomats. They wreak havoc!

My favorite unit is the spy they do the grunt work for my civ the thankless jobs that nobody else wants risking their lives to make the Carthaginian empire strong and powerful

Ancient: Elephants, you can discover Polytheism very quickly, and while the other tribes think they're very smart for learning Bronze working they forget that an Elephant can trample a Phalanx with ease. I use hordes of elephants to punish my nearby opponents early on.

Renaissance/Industrial: The Cavalry. Once again, the untoppable offensive force against both Musketeers and Riflemen.

Modern: The Spy. Wrecks havoc in my opponents cities. Undermines their democracies, poisons their water, incites the dissidents...

I've also got to recognize Diplomats, who sacrafice themselves taking out city walls until the spies are available.

I personally like Dragoons in mediaeval times, Stealth fighters and Tanks in modern times, and chariots in ancient times. Oh yeah, I like the spy units also. But that's just me

the unit i made - SEAL

att. 7
def. 5
move 2
HP 2
FP 2
paradrops
amphibious
2 space view
IZC
x2 vs. air
x2 vs. movement of 2

besides my SEAL, I like Armor. It has a good attack, good defense (better than most units) and moves 3.

Armor Units!

They have great stats, and are useful for any combat purpose.

In other historical periods, it is a tie between Knights and Crusaders.

I know how you feel... I have many friends and relatives in Sweden, and I visit every year. Last year, some people needed help with some programming. All their software, including MS Windows was in Swedish! And I know almost no Swedish! So I had to stumble though all the pop-up windows, pull-down menus, etc. and sometimes I though I knew that they said, but really did not. The results were often funny, ranging from a restarted computer to very slow computations.
