favourite music in the game?

Because of the liberalism race I often spend little time in the medieval period, which, from the musical perspective is something of a pity. Maybe one of the reasons I'm so fond of the Oracle - Theology gambit is that I get to bypass the banalities of the classical period and enjoy the glories of Palestrina, Josquin, Ockeghem etc.

Most people seem to hate the modern stuff, but I love it. It really conjures up whirly bustling metropolises and epic, nightmarish wars quite fantastically. The cacophonic crescendoes suit the apocalyptic war torn landscapes and merciless war machines quite nicely. :goodjob:

Then again, I listen to a lot of Stravinsky, Bartok and Shostakovich so John Adams isn't a huge challenge for me.

Adams' music seems pretty anaemic stuff in comparison with that of the post-war avant garde period: Boulez, Xenakis, Ligeti etc. True, I have rather specialised musical tastes, but that's where the excitement lies for me in mid to late twentieth century music.

Well, yes, but there are limits to the amount of weirdness the average listener is capable of tolerating. :p Adams is okay, I don't listen to him except when I'm playing Civ, but he fits the game very well.

The modern music is OK - it fits the era. Be glad they didn't use rap.
