A couple games ago I achieved a conquest victory on Monarch.
What made this special was that domination victory was still on, and I was not going for conquest at first.
What happened was as I was finishing off the last civ with my cavalry I noticed that I was getting close to domination victory. I figured if I could kill the rest of the enemies cities at the same time before my newly captured cities come out of revolt I would win conquest instead of domination. So thats what I did.
Conquest is more statisfying, but a lot of the time I can't be arsed to go for it when I've clearly already won the game, so I go for domination instead.
For myself, I really feel proud of the few domination wins I've had. I find them much more challenging than any other, with the possible exception of its big brother, conquest, which I have yet to achieve.
And here I was thinking I was the builder-type of player from my experiences in prevuious CIV versions. I have yet to get a cultural win, but have found myself acheiving domination and conquest vistories often although I was never a warmonger.
Unfortunately, and perhaps embarassingly so, when I checked my HOF, TIME victories outnumber any other victory type. Spaceship comes in a close 2nd.
Just wondering what difficulty level people are nabbing these cultural victories on?
Domination, only because conquest takes too long. Any other type of victory in my book is a failure to achieve one of these two and therefore a defeat.

Using normal, non-artificial settings to play the game for real instead of an artificial game within the game. What you pointed to doesn't count and is not real civilization. Maybe one day you'll grow up and understand that the good things in life take effort.

Says the old veteran guy. You don't decide whats civ or not neither do I. You're getting old, I understand you're nervous because you carry deadly disease and about to leave but I forgive you.
I like the Space ship victory the best because you have to use a little bit of every strategy just to get it before every other civ does. Help out a weak civ at war with stronger civ by giving them slightly more advanced techs hopefully prolonging there war. This helps you to focus on weakening other civs, either by capturing their towns, expanding your own civ, expanding your civs religions to enemy towns, halting their expansion by getting to resurces first and the list goes on and on. It takes a lot of balance to win this victory.
Do you ever change the culture bar to anything other than 0? If you keep it at 0, you probably won't be able to do it even if you built all the wonders and found all the religions.
