Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Tell me about how you are celebrating. Personally, I'm stuck in a rainstorm and ain't able to celebrate.

yeah!
Feliz 5 de Mayo!

today is a holiday!
no work, no school.
its a day i enjoyed with my parents, since dad didnt go to work we all went to a place called Bio-Park
its a place where you can see animals going around freely, zebras, jirafees (sp?) elephants just like in Africa.
of course lions and other dangerous animals are behind a wall.
we have just returned from there and we're going to the ol' town to have dinner and see special events tonight
and the best of all, it's Monday so the weekend was larger!

Well, happy Bevrijdingsdag (Liberation Day) for you Dutchies too :) (Posted 5 minutes before its end here :D )

too bad :(
I hate when that happens during a holiday

Yes, Happy Bevrijdingsdag jack merchant and other Dutch posters.

Living in Tejas, there is a BIG street party downtown tonight. All weekend in fact. Good eats.

J

PS Even here I wonder how many people know why its a celebration. Mexico defeated France on this datye 1862.

Me? I'm celebrating Cinco de Mayo by not getting drunk, going to any wild parties, and just staying at home reading, writing, playing on the PC, and what's more, reading about how you lucky @^@$$%&#'s got to celebrate. (:D )

Thanks for the explanation onejayhawk, I remember now but had forgotten and was afraid to ask...

¡Viva Mexico lindo, mis cuates!

Happy 5 of MAy to all our brothers in Mexico [and to the Dutchs, we're also responsible to some extend of their history]

absolutely ! Although Liberation day here celebrates liberation from the Germans, not the Spanish.

And in case I didn't mention it, very happy Cinco de Mayo to you Mexicanos [party]

celebrate cinco de mayo? nope, i have NO idea why is so important in the US!, it isnt in mexico, is almost an average day, the battle wasnt so big, and the french ended up controling mexico and setting up an european monarch.

true die hard authentic mexican holydays:
september 16 1810 : day of the beggining of teh independence struggle agsint spain.

november 20 1910 : day of the beggining of the mexican revolution, pancho villa etc.

those are the true holydays, again i have no idea why cinco de mayo is so important in america
