Few Play as American Civ?

Hi!

In my opinion American empire has below average UU and UB, and that is the reason why only few players thinks that America is best civ in game. However i think that they still have some potential if you play as LINCOLN. Philosophical=Good specialist economy, Charismatic=Happiness, and -25% promotion costs. I'm still playing at chieftain level so my advice is not the best, but just said what noob like me thinks about American empire.

I'm not sure what is my favorite leader and civ in game, but Lincoln is near the top. Russia and Peter is on the lead of my hall of fame. What that might tell about my playing style??

It would be better if the Americans got the Sheriff's office UB (reducing some "%" of maintenance from distance to palace and reducing war weariness as well (replacing "jail") and "Continental Army" conscripts replacing muskets UU (with free guerilla promotion as they was well known for knowing the "lay of the land" perhaps ) That would rock !

Some kind of unique musket that got a bonus attacking in forests and hills, or one that was simply much cheaper, would fit with the early Americans. The Mall is a perfect representation of modern America, but my game's usually over by then so it doesn't see much action.

America is pretty cool in Rhye's and Fall of Civilization.

I often use them just for familiarity with city names... easier to remember, for me, that New York is my financial capital, than some odd Zulu name or something...

A fun one to play (with unrestricted leaders) is Lincoln/Washington of Ethiopia. The UB suddenly makes a lot more sense, and the Oromo makes a decent "minuteman" replica. Drafted Oromos are still pretty damn good, and its possible to get drill4+ Oromos VERY easily!
