FFA01 - Free for all succession game

GreyFox, make sure you do a GOT IT post if you're going to play. Now that I'm back (and feeling frisky -- ask GW over in VQ04) I may want to grab it tomorrow night.

Save is now 1.61. I'm going to play through 1890.

Turn 2 -- 1884 AD (continued)

Where was I?

Attack on Cuzco, maybe? Eh, why not.
Art defeats Rifle.
Art suicides to Rifle.
Infantry defeats Longbow.
Art defeats Rifle.
Art defeats Knight.
Infantry defeats Pike.
Cavalry defeats Cat. We capture Cuzco.

By Pisae:
Bomber hits Crossbow
Bomber hits Rifle in Pisae

Attack on Tiwanaku:
Art defeats Rifle
Cav defeats Longbow
Cav defeats Longbow. We capture Tiwanaku.

At Rome:
Infantry defeats Rifle.

Turn 3 -- 1886 AD

Damn, I screwed up defending Cuzco post-capture. I'm going to have to take it again. Unfortunately I'm one unit short :wallbash:

Lots of troop movement.

Turn 4 -- 1888 AD

Vilcas falls.
Cuzco falls. I defend it better this time
Rome falls.

Turn 5 -- 1890 AD

Much troop movement. Ok, I don't have time to play any more, so here's the save. Have fun!

FYI, you might just want to hit ENTER

;)
Now, that got me curious .... Got it, will "press enter" tonight ... If it is a "FFA01 Wins a Domination Victory" message ... I am not sure I am going kill you or simply reload the save and give away some cities before pressing enter ;)

I assure you, the first message you see will not be a Domination Victory one.

Acknowledgement

Special thanks to vovan for starting this thread.

Thanks to everyone who participated this game.

Thanks to ChrTh who decided to chip in so that this game can continue when I was all alone.

Heartfelt gratitude to ChrTh for making me press the last "Enter" ...

I was right! The first message was "Your infantry was defeated by a Greek Rifleman" :D

I do apologize about the last Enter, I actually posted the save before I had looked at the victory conditions. After I did, I hit Enter just to see if we would win with it, and of course it did but since I didn't get screenshots I didn't post it. I didn't want anyone to waste time moving troops or anything fun like that, which is why I added 'Just Press Enter' :bounce:

PS: Hey Greyfox, there's an Open SG sitting on the last (or next-to-last) page of the forum ... :groucho:

Thanks rex. Didn't knew you lurked in this one.

@ChrTh: you must be kidding .... I am glad enough to get this out of the way :D

You referring to Everyone's SG? I will wait and see how's forumn interest in it ... but someone must go tell him that this idea of his is not so unique ... vovan already started this thread so long ago :D

Well, considering we had Open SGs back when the SG forum for Civ3 was still part of the Stories and Tales forum (that was SO annoying), even Vovan wasn't all that unique ;)

There's an AWN Open SG that hasn't been touched since November ... :groucho:

Thanks rex. Didn't knew you lurked in this one.

Not a lurker. When I saw the Everyone's SG, I went to make sure I was right in thinking they ripped this thread off. Thanks to ChrTh (what does that mean? I keep wanting to call you Chris) I now know this wasn't that original either.

:sigh: seems every good idea rips something off these days.

ChrTh is an abbreviation of my name. It also functions as a pronunciation of Chris, but with a lisp :)

Open SGs have been around for awhile. However, the issue with them is what you'd expect (and witnessed here): without a roster to enforce, it's very hard to keep them going. Also, without the same group of players going, it's very hard to forge a team that stays in sync. Even in this game, I wouldn't have gotten involved if it wasn't obvious what the direction of the game was.

I absolutely see that this format is difficult. For me, one A-hole absolutely ruins a good SG. In this format, your A-hole chances go up significantly.

No comments, Fox, about who the A-hole is in all my games...;)

I'm sorry for being an a-hole :(

Good job guys. Nice finish!
