FFA01 - Free for all succession game

Ahhhh, that makes sense. Thanks ham.

I guess you only get the little pop up messages about a religion spreading if it is your current state religion. That would explain why I didn't notice it earlier.

So, what is a "Fall From Heaven" game then?

Someone grab this game and continue the DOMINATION!!! :goodjob:

Okay, I see you guys are needing players ... I would gladly jump in to get this game forward ...

Pre-Flight

I see we are doing great, however, I am a bit dismayed about our military.
I see cities protected by archers and warriors at 1500AD?
So, I am going to beefed up the military in my turnset.

Turnset

The turns are mostly peceful building, so only some pictures to show you:

FFA-steel.jpg

FFA-printing-press.jpg

FFA-rep-parts.jpg

I am getting Steam Power to further improve worker's efficiency, thereafter I suggest a push to Navy superiority.

The World:

FFA-world-view-1.jpg

FFA-world-view-2.jpg

I would have posted our demographics, but not very exciting ... in fact its downright boring, with us being #1 in every single category except Import/Export for which we are 3rd ... :D

After Turns Notes

- I have moved a settler to the western colony to build one more city to grab the two seafood resources. There after, I suggest we beefed up our military, and go on a long expedition to take out the barb city. I give us a foothold into Monty's land. Alternatively, it will be a colonization spree to settle the two isle east of Monty's land.

- I have built a jewish missionary to convert the two cities in Roman's part of the continent, but it failed! :aargh:

The autolog, if anyone is interested:
Spoiler :

Turn 220 (1550 AD)

Turn 230 (1600 AD)
Research begun: Steam Power <- worker improvement, also reveal coal (I think)

The save:

Turn 0 -- 1600 AD

Wow, we're quite advanced here. Sounds like domination is how we want to go. Almost have the pop, but we need to double our land size. Alex is our friend, though, so if we're going to conquer, we're going sailing.

Renegotiate Corn to Alex up to 8gpt. Increase science to 80%, Steam Power due in 5.

Turn 1 -- 1605 AD

Memphis builds Angkor Wat. Starts Observatory.

Confucianism has spread in Anasazi.

I upgrade a sword to Grenadier in Giza to give it better protection in case Alex stabs us in the back (which he's done in every CIV game I've played).

Monty can't be too tough if he can't eliminate a simple Barb city.

Hieraconpolis is built. Starts Theater.

Turn 2 -- 1610 AD

Heliopolis: Grenadier > Observatory
Ansazi: Greandier > Grocer
Alexandria: Granary (Or Was it Barracks?) > Forge
Kyoto: Longbow > University

Turn 3 -- 1615 AD

Tokyo: Bank > Grocer

Great Scientist is born in Memphis. Send him to Elephantine to build Academy.

Turn 4 -- 1620 AD

Pi-Ramesses: Granary > Barracks

Turn 5 -- 1625 AD

Academy is built in Elephantine.

Steam Power comes in. I start Railroad with an towards Combustion (after getting Sci Meth, of course). We already have coal onboard.

Memphis: Observatory > Grocer
Osaka: Harbor > Forge

Start sending a couple of the carvels back to territorial waters to get upgraded.

Turn 6 -- 1630 AD

Thebes: University > Observatory
Giza: Granary > Barracks

Turn 7 -- 1635 AD

Elephantine: Cannon > Bank
Anasazi: Grocer > Confucian Monastery
Edo completes the already obsolete Hagia Sophia. Starts Forge.

Note: I am sending the Caravel with the Explorer south to HC's lands (since we have Open Borders)

Turn 8 -- 1640 AD

Anasazi: Confucian Monastery > Bank

Turn 9 -- 1645 AD

Heliopolis: Observatory > Grenadier

Turn 10 -- 1650 AD

Memphis: Grocer > Oxford University
Kyoto: University > Grocer
El-Amarna: Lighthouse > Granary

Well, not much happened; mostly builder turns. Railroad is due in 2. There are some workers asleep so they'll need to be awoken to rail. After Railroad I'd go for Sci Meth and Combustion to get the big ships in play. Then crush everyone.

Here's the Save:
View attachment 122738

Played ... Nothing much, main thing I switched us to slavery. Needed workboats for a lot of new cities, and frankly, there is no city specialization at all in this game, so I fail to see how caste system would help us.

Built a few Knights, longbows. Started Ironworks in anazasi.

Research wise gotten railroads, combustion, start rifling (a :smoke: should start SciMeth). Anyway rifling in next turn, so next player can go for SciMeth to reveal oil and get us some destroyers and transport.

Also converted the two cities in Roman's land to Jewish.

Wnet around hunting for sleeping workers for major railroad and lumbermills duties.

Autolog, if interested:
Spoiler :

Turn 240 (1650 AD)

Sugest continue building up mixed infrastructure and military, and take on Monty :D

Oh, and by the way, Monty finally get around to razing that barb city ...

The save (1700AD)

Turn 0 -- 1700 AD

Now that I'm more familiar with the game, I should be able to make more progress. Our target is Monty, so we need ships. We have a couple across-the-water cities that'll need to be protected from one of Alex's trademark backstabs. We need Oil, so Sci-Meth after Rifling comes in.

Hrm, I see GreyFox ignored my instruction to drop off the Explorer in HC's lands. Send Caravel back out to do so.

Not sure why there's a settler build happening, so I won't do anything with him.

Everything else looks OK, hit ENTER.

Turn 1 -- 1705 AD

Tacitus is nice enough to tell us that we're the most advanced civ!

Rifling is finished, start Sci Meth, due in 2.

Heliopolis: Settler > Worker ... send Settler to Thebes
Elephantine: Galleon > Worker
Kyoto: Machine Gun > Worker ... send Machine Gun to Nagoya.

Find some sleeping workers. Wake them up.

Turn 2 -- 1710 AD

Memphis completes Oxford University, starts Worker.

Turn 3 -- 1715 AD

SciMeth comes in. Start Physics for the Great Scientist. Due in 5 @ 90%.

We have 3 sources of Oil. One under a Farm (next thing you know old Jeb's a millionaire) and a couple outside of non-working tiles, which is convenient. Send workers.

Turn 4 -- 1720 AD

Thebes: Knight > Worker
Memphis: Worker > Rifle
Eleph: Worker > Rifle
Alexandria: Observatory > Worker
Kyoto: Worker > Rifle
Byblos: Workboat > Workboat (sending the new one to Kyoto)

Lots of Worker action

Turn 5 -- 1725 AD

Helipolis: Worker > Heroic Epic. NOTE: BUILD WEST POINT IN HELIOPOLIS!!!!!

More Worker Actions.

Turn 6 -- 1730 AD

Thebes: Worker > Rifle
Giza: Courthouse > Forge
Byblos: Workboat > Forge

Find more sleeping workers and get them working.

Turn 7 -- 1735 AD

Edo: Observatory > Worker
Pi-Ramesses: Courthouse > Forge

Confucianism has spread in Memphis.

Even more worker action!

Turn 8 -- 1740 AD

Physics is in, start Military Tradition (due in 3)

Memphis: Rifle > Rifle
Osaka: Galleon > Grocer
Alexandria: Worker > Harbor
Nara: Workboat > Forge
Kyoto: Rifle > Worker

Only one source of Uranium is found.

I have the Great Scientist join Memphis as a Super-Scientist.

I think Monty is about to declare war on HC.

Turn 9 -- 1745 AD

Elephantine: Rifle > Grocer
Tokyo: Rifle > Observatory

Sure enough: Monty has declared war on HC. HC immediately conquers Madras. Our explorer is well-situated to watch what happens.

Turn 10 -- 1750 AD

Thebes: Rifle > Destroyer (oh yeah, Oil is online)
Helipolis: Heroic Epic > War Elephant (CHANGE TO WEST POINT NEXT TURN!)
Kyoto: Worker > Rifle

On the War Front, the Aztecs capture Andahuaylas.

Ok, workers have been working hard. Troops are being built. We've just started Oil-based boats. We have nearly 3000 gold. And Monty and HC are trading cities, which is nice. Time to strike the other island is getting very close.

After Military Tradition comes in, I'd recommend Corporation > Assembly Line (for Infantry and Factories) or straight to Artillery. Science is currently at 60% but can easily go up to 80%, if not 90%.

Here's the Save:
View attachment 122803

Looked at the Save again. We need Constitution before Corporation if we head for Assembly Line. Also, we may not have a soldier with enough experience to build West Point. If not, well, we should get one.

Since HC and Monty are fighting anyway (slowing themselves down), maybe we should invade Alex for the heck of it?

Opps, sorry about Explorer ... guess I should note down instructions from previous players and paste them on my monitor before I play ....

Settler is to settle that large island east of Monty.

Maybe we should go conquest instead of domination? ... :mischief:

Not a Got-It, maybe later today, but not now.

-

Played 10 turns ...

Nothing much for the first 45 years. Basically building up our military and have workers railraoding and lumbermilling ... now all cities in the main island should be connected via rail.

Research wise, gotten Military Trad, Constitution and Corporation, setting us towards Assembly Line.

FFA-military-trad.jpg

FFA-constitution.jpg

forget picture about corporation, so just imageine the dialog and Spock voice telling you something about corporation, ok?

--

In my last turn, got impatient, and ...

FFA-war.jpg

:eek  WAR :hammer: :hammer:

Here is my invasion stack:

FFA-forces.jpg

Oh, and by the way, settler party is also on their way ...

FFA-settler.jpg

I saw Alex's galleon passing by our cities in the west, so he is likely to come to the same place. Expect some neighbors.

Have fun with the war. Leave me some action, will you?

 is right, I thought we were at least 20 turns away from war when I passed it.

Definitely do NOT have it. Maybe later.

I spend some money upgrading galleons to transports, galley to destroyer, and cats to cannons. Thereafter, I was thinking ... what the heck, Monty can't be that strong ... and hence war.

There is another SoD slowly building up in our north-eastern most city (forget the name :crazyeye:) ... so those transport should head there and pick up our reinforcement.

I expect a city captured every two turns, and by the end-of-twenty, this war should be over. :cooool: :groucho:

Turn 0 -- 1800 AD

Raise science to 70% to get Assembly Line in 3 turns.

Turn 1 -- 1802 AD

Memphis: Grenadier > Rifle

Abydos is built.

Science dropped to 50% with Assembly Line due next turn.

Ill-advised attack at Tlat, Rifle loses to Longbow.

Pillage lots of fishing boats around Delhi.
