I don't think life mana is the way to go. It's a very expensive solution that might not even work, considering we only have one unit between us remotely capable of magic, which has strength equal to a peasant militia unit.

I suggest that we use fire against the enemies. The elven archers can fire flaming arrows, the shield can use something similiar to what they did in Jarv and the rest of us can use burning torches or something similiar. I don't know for sure that this will work but they must have some weakness, and fire is something we can easilly harness against them, as opposed to life magic.

Also, I am strongly, strongly, strongly against splitting the shield into small groups. It will make them absolutely useless in actual combat. They need to be together so that they can actually do some damage to the enemy and make a difference in this campaign.

okay- to make things clear:
the tomb of sucullus IS a life mana node. for the elves to access its affects they have only to tech up to 'ley-lines' (not build a node for 50g) BUT they don't have mysticism yet (i think), so the best you could do with regards to the tomb is teach the elves mystiicsm this turn and teach them ley-lines next turn and perform a life-mana based healing ritual next turn.
alternatively, any nation who doesn't have 'civilization mana' who learns 'ley-lines' can pick 'life mana' as their civilization mana and thereby have life mana (also without creating a node).
the problems are:
cost of ritual, access to life mana, time to organise (orders are due tonight before you go to bed).

This is a shambles! Where is the organisation for this campaign? If none of you will decide on a plan and send the details to the High Circle we will be forced to withdraw our aid, something we do not want to have to do. We will not send out troops or gold unless this campaign is strictly controlled and planned out, to do so would be sending our men to their deaths.

If you want access to Bannor forces you will send us the information we need before it is too late (ie. the end of the day)

I have nothing to hide. What is in the update is what I have. Our people has generated 1 less gold than usual. (You know my GPT) but we can still domestically borrow money.

The ritual, as far as I know, cost like 15~25 gold. If the Amurites help the White mist elves, it may be even cheaper. It may be a good idea to build the node as a back-up plan

Seon, he just said the Tomb is a node.

Charles, that's great but it's not a plan is it?

From what I know, it's not about being a node, but reactivating it. Am I getting something wrong here (I know Immac said something about a ritual)

The ritual has nothing to do with the Tomb I don't think. It just uses the life mana the tomb provides.

From The Iro-O-Kee,
To Any Involved in the Ritual,

as you can probably imagine the front line forces such as our nation will be spending what money we have recruiting our troops to full strength and building pallisades. Our people have agreed to empty their treasuries and, thereby, we have found our last 7 gold worth of valuables. We pledge these to any 'ritual of life' meant to cure the changed ones. It is all we have.

From The Kuriotates,
To Those Organizing a Life Ritual,

We have already pledged 5 gold to removing entropy form this land but our accountants inform us that we may have as much as 9 gold available to assist in the casting of a 'ritual of life' to stop the hungry dead. The Kuriotates have knowledge of mysticism and ley-lines but no access to life mana. We could teach the Elves about ley-lines but because we would need to 'naturalize' the knowledge first, we would not be able to provide it to them until approximately 15 years from now. Perhaps in the meantime some nation could teach the elves about mysticism. One they have learnt those secrets (15 years), we can teach them ley-lines and conduct a ritual based on the mana in the tomb of a ressurected god.

But that means much planning, almost 2 decades and we need to act now... surely there is a better plan?

Easiest solution = Whitemist elves allow Amurites to conduct ritual in their territory this turn, but since Amurites are treachorous, that may be impossible.

This will take far too long. If we don't stop the undead menace this very errr.... 15 year period (:p) it will be too late. We must act now!

@Seon: Remind me how you are at all involved in this campaign? :p

It's a paranoid observer thing. You see, my unit is supposed to be killing those creatures. Fire is unreliable, Life ritual is more :sniper:

ANyway, time to attack...

Spoiler :
A crazy plan, but it was what just might have the only chance of succeeding.

Hadel slowly watched the members of the Labyrinth passed around a scroll of some sort around the room. Some of them were already in full discussion amongst themselves already.

“Well?” Hadel asked. “I am not ordering you to do this. It is my final request to you as a friend. Anyone who doesn’t wish to continue may leave now” The room suddenly grew silent. One of the men in black robes stood up.

“This is crazy, surely the ‘Als must have done something to protect their lands,” he said.

Hadel’s gaze fell. The man continued.

“However, this may be our only chance of success anyhow. We are all under your command.”

Hadel’s look sprang back up. “So you will do this?”

“Of course, sir, that’s what friends are for isn’t it? We help each other.” The man smiled. Although his faces couldn’t be seen, everyone in the room was bonded with each other enough to bypass that limitation.

Another figure, this time small, sighed. “I am in, as long as you give me a few biscuits afterword…”

“Shut up,” said the figure next to him. “I am in on this plan, this is my life and I won’t stop living it just because a few thugs are getting in the way.”

The room was suddenly filled with chorus of ‘in’s. Hadel beamed proudly at them.

“The ‘Others’ are here.” Said a voice.

Hadel turned around, startled. The room grew quiet again. The owner of the voice perked up his glasses. Hadel smiled again.

“Tell them to enter, we have so much to discuss…”

As leader of Second group of Elves, I'll give you my advice: Let someone bless your soldiers weapons (or Silver Grass arrows), use enchanted weapons against these vile creatures, you can continue building that "life" node meanwhile. Enchanted weapons should improve your odds. However I doupt enchanting lasts long, if no mana is provided by node.

I've already posted what I give to the campaign as I have issues at home that need dealing with.

You guys are too concerned with a magical solution to your problem. You haven't even suggested other ways to go about it - without really thinking too hard, I can come up with at least two other solutions that could be useful, neither of which has any magic at all.

BUT... that's not my continent, and it's not my problem. Have at 'er, folks!

Will the White Mist Elves allow Amurite scholars to perform the ritual? If they do, we will provide 10 gold towards any supplies needed. Otherwise, we would be willing to teach the Elves the secrets of Mysticism this turn, even though they denied our offer of a more equal trade.

Regarding a more military solution, we have troops but no new information on how to best use them. We have had little experience in military matters but we are not willing to throw our troops away in a fools crusade. Perhaps if a nation with more experience fighting these things would take a leadership role, we might stand a better chance for victory.

The Mist Elves are somewhat unhappy, but willing to allow Amurite mystics into their boarders to teach them Mysticism and then Ley Lines in exchange for joint ownership of the node, as proposed before. The White Queen herself has stated that she will have it no other ways and she will not put her people at risk by allowing foreign forces into her lands to use such a powerful artefact and then simply leave.

This is the only way the Mist Elves will agree to aiding in the undead attack.

Immy. Can someone Teach the elves mysticism and me leylines this turn? if not, I'll send orders to the effect a ritual activating it, using all the gold sent.

Alternativly, though this is horribly risky, We can use bait (fast runners) who can lure the zombies into the ruins of patria (or some other suitably contained place: a valley, or something) where they will get stuck and trapped, and we can dispose of them with fire.

edit: xpost

Nutranurse: I'll send orders to the effect of activating the node.
